Greetings! My name is Christina and I am a recent Rutgers University graduate with a double major in both music and economics. I have had over 12 years of private training in piano, with additional experience in violin, orchestra, choir and various performance-related events. Over the years I have studied with numerous pianists and incorporated many different methods and techniques that have greatly influenced my own teaching. I have been teaching music lessons to both children and adults since high school, and am comfortable teaching any age. I do believe that a solid foundation in any instrument begins with music theory, and it is something I incorporate little by little into each lesson; however, it is very important to me that the learning process be enjoyable, and I strive to make each lesson as fun, inspiring, and exciting as possible!

I am a Board Certified Music Therapist. I have a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Montclair State University, where I studied music therapy with a concentration in piano. I have been a piano teacher for 8 years. I have been playing piano for 16 years, singing in choirs for 13 years, and playing flute for 10 years (mostly band). I am currently studying piano with Mark Pakman.
Music Performances have taken me to Maryland Jazz Festival, NJPAC, Carnegie Hall, Moscow Conservatory, and several other places with bands, choirs, and solo.
Music has also taken me to Nepal, where I worked with children adolescents, and young adults, in a Christian based organization with music and other subjects.

Music has been part of my life since the age of three. My first inspiration was my mother, who was a working singer in the 70's. My second inspiration and mentor was my High School Music Teacher, Mr. Wynn, and I am grateful for all he has taught me. I am passionate about teaching and would like to have the opportunity to be as inspirational to my students as Mr. Wynne was to me. As you can see from my resume below, I have been very active in performing and teaching. At the age of 37, I feel even stronger that the choice I made to make MUSIC my career was the absolute correct one. I believe in the Bible principle that it is better to give than to receive. Teaching is a major facet of music that allows me to do this.

A lifelong musician and songwriter, Ian S has extensive experience teaching guitar and piano to students age 3 and up both as a private music instructor and as a teacher at the Institute of Music for Children. With 25 years experience in guitar and piano, Ian has studied and performed with several award-winning music artists, and has written and recorded over one hundred songs. He plays and teaches a variety of styles on both the guitar and the piano, from classical to jazz to rock. Ian is patient, friendly, and loves sharing the gift of music.

Ian was the guitarist in the Princeton University Jazz Ensemble for 3 seasons, was selected from a nationwide pool of musicians to perform at a special music event at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC, and was the recipient of the New Jersey Governor's Award in Arts Education for the category of Instrumental Music.

Yuichi H. was born in Tokyo, Japan. His musical career started at age 10 when he performed marimba in a music recital. He started playing drum set at age 14 and joined a wind ensemble, a few rock bands, and a jazz big band. With some of these groups, he performed at several live music venues in Tokyo. In 1991, he composed the music and performed drums and percussion in a production of Othello, at The Globe Tokyo Panasonic Theater.
In the fall of 1991, with a full scholarship, he attended Berklee College of Music, Boston, MA. He studied jazz drums mainly with Joe Hunt and Jon Hazilla, and orchestral percussion with Dean Anderson. Also, he took many classes in jazz composition and arranging with Gregg Hopkins and Jeff Friedman. He was the recipient of "The Cuccinello Percussion Award" and the "Berklee Percussion Department Achievement Award." Kristin has been teaching piano and voice for over ten years. Most recently she was on the faculty at the International Opera Center of America where she taught piano for singers. Kristin taught both group and private lessons at the MusicTime School in San Francisco, CA where she was best known for her innovative work combining fun activities with learning, creating an excitement for music in many young piano and voice students.

Kristin began her piano studies at the age of 3 and her vocal studies at 10. Kristin's most recent success as Florence Pike in the opera Albert Herring was produced by Maestro Lorin Maazel with the London Royal College of Music at Chateauville, VA. The company subsequently replicated some of the opera, in a concert version, with Marvin Hamlisch at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC. Marjorie has taught beginners to advanced students of all ages in every vocal style including Opera, Classical, Musical Theatre, Pop, Jazz, Folk, Rock, R&B and Gospel at Hunter College, New York University, La Guardia Community College, The Learning Annex as well as her private vocal studio in NYC for the past 25 years.

Marjorie received her Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Georgia and a Special Studies Award in Voice and Opera from the Eastman School of Music. Marjorie has sung at Venice's Grand Teatro La Fenice, Carnegie Hall in NY, Rome's Teatro dell'Opera, Cagliari's Teatro Lirico and the New York Grand Opera.

She was the winner of the Luciano Pavarotti International Voice Competition and a finalist in both the Enrico Caruso Voice Competition and McAllister Opera Awards Competitions. Recently she was featured on Channel 5 Good Day New York morning news program.

Stephen made his operatic debut in the title role of Gluck's Orfeo in Santa Barbara, CA. Other roles performed in the United States have been Oberon in Britten's A Midsummer Night's Dream, the title role in John Eccles' The Judgement of Paris and Sesto in La Clemenza di Tito by Mozart. Among the roles sung in Europe were Orlolsky in Fledermaus, Bertarido in Rodelinda and Oberon in Sommernachtstraum. He has been a soloist in many Churches and Synagogues in the United States and Europe. Highlights have been Messiah, Elijah, St. Mathew Passion and Cantorial soloist for the Jewish High Holidays.
