I have a strong foundation in music history and theory. I have taught students at the high school or college level, and can also instruct the basic piano skills that are so helpful for learning music theory.
I'm a freelance musician and teacher in the Bay Area. I recently graduated from Sacramento State with my Bachelors of Music. I have been teaching for years, both privately and through the University system, it has given me training for teaching every stage from beginners with no experience to preparing young musicians for college auditions. No matter what you skill level, I can give you the tools to improve.

For Beginner students: we will start by exploring rhythm concepts and understanding how to read music. Learning the physics of the guitar and exploring the notes in the first few positions. Learning open position chords, and simple chords progressions, major and pentatonic scales,etc.
For Intermediate students: we will continue expanding our knowledge of the higher positions of the guitar, as well as develop better sight-reading skills. Bar cords and chord transposition, and music theory. Expanding our scalar vocabulary to modes, and minor scales. Learning arpeggios and classical etudes.
For Advance students: Close interval voicings, jazz improvisation, chord to scale relationships, and harmonic substitutions are some of the concepts we will cover. Learning solo guitar playing (chord melody), incorporating walking bass lines, transcription skill and arranging skills.

Music Theory lessons will develop the essential skills every musician needs to grow and expand in their musical ability. Lessons will be tailored specifically to students ability to develop their musicianship skills around classical literature from 1600 to present.
