Hi! My name is Paul and I'd love to share the joy of playing the guitar with you! I have been a professional musician and teacher for over 20 years. I know much about playing the guitar and being an artist. I am passionate about music, which is why lessons with me are so fun. I know how to customize a program for the motivated student that will bring out the potential of the student at all levels. I will give the student a complete and practical program for advancement and help he or she discover their own talents at a pace that works for them. I even on occasion will conduct blues jams and other challenges such as recording and how to do a You Tube video production that will give the student a chance to use there developing skills by themselves and with others. Here is feedback from one of the parents of a student of mine:
"Alex progressed much further with guitar than he did with piano and he actually got to the point where he enjoyed playing on his own. That was a great accomplishment and very impressive to me...you helped instill some discipline and over the course of your instruction, Alex learned a lot. You were always positive with him, even when that was difficult, and I admired that and still appreciate it. I always looked forward on Sunday mornings to hearing the material the two of you were working on and I know he enjoyed his lesson with you."

I grew up in Minnesota and started playing guitar when I was 13. Self-taught for three years, I developed a passion and love for music. Upon turning 16, I expanded my knowledge studying with a local guitarist, a musical genius in my opinion, who made a huge impact on my playing. In the fall of 2007 I relocated to Los Angeles to attend Musicians Institute for guitar performance. I graduated in 2009
Over the course of the last nine years I’ve been a part of six different live performing bands and currently work with my original band comprised entirely of Musicians Institute graduates, Delphian. Delphian can be seen and heard featured on screen in the Mike Judge film “Extract”. I study, perform and have vast knowledge in the styles of blues, classical, country, folk, jazz, metal and rock n' roll. Everyday as I continue to grow as a teacher and musician, so does my love for the guitar. I very much enjoy sharing my knowledge and seeing each of my students progress and grow as musicians.

An Ohio-born baritone, David has always had a passion for music and singing. Strongly influenced by the musical pursuits of his older brother, David began playing the piano at age six and was captivated by the school musicals his brother starred in, as well as by the musical Disney movies popular at the time. David also showed aptitude as a young singer. He was frequently chosen as a soloist for grade school productions, and he would often compete in OMEA adjudicated events, receiving the highest scores possible.
David's professional singing career began in high school after receiving recognition from singing the National Anthem at home basketball games, which were always highly-attended. He was soon being paid to sing at local holiday festivals and other community events, where attendance was often in the thousands. Notably, David won first place in both state-wide and international talent competitions for his performance of "If Ever I Would Leave You" from the musical Camelot.
David soon attended Northwestern University, where he was classically trained in opera performance over a five-year period. While at college, he was active in several choirs and an a Capella group on campus. He also started teaching voice at that time, offering instruction to friends who paid him for lessons. One of his students sang in a band, another played the piano and wanted to learn to sing better while playing, several wanted to sing better in church, and a couple others with more singing experience simply wanted to improve their existing technique.
After graduating, David played the role of Colline in the world-renowned opera La bohème for his operatic debut. In addition, he has performed songs in many different languages, including: English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, and Russian. David currently resides in West Los Angeles, where he attends graduate school at UCLA, and continues to teach voice in his spare time. He is also preparing to release his debut solo album.
So what can David do for you? He has a love for singing only paralleled by his passion for teaching. As such, David feels right at home teaching his students a healthy vocal technique centered around their goals. Please see "Lesson Details" for more!

I am a firm believer in the power of music to heal, entertain, and teach. It is our first and most vital universal human language and as such, I believe we all have the ability to learn how to communicate beautifully with music to express our deepest feelings. As a teacher it is my privilege and pleasure to help you develop.
From classical violin to jazz piano my early musical education not only spanned genres and instruments but also geographically from Austin Texas to Madison Wisconsin and finally brought me to Los Angeles where I currently reside and work teaching and playing in several bands. I embrace this diversity as I embrace my own mixed Peruvian and American cultural heritage.
Helping you or your child reach your musical dreams in a friendly-nurturing environment is my sincere desire and obligation as your teacher. Discipline is required and to be expected, however, an overly rigid or demanding routine can do more harm than good. I believe attention must be paid to individual learning styles. Therefore, as a teacher I have learned to observe carefully at first and custom tailor a practice routine with each student aimed at achieving their goals. I believe the study of music helps foster a deep level of self-confidence and self realization, which eventually leads the student to discover a portion of himself he would otherwise never know. My goal is to inspire others with this joy, which is everyone's birthright and an important key in finding happiness.
