Cory B. Long Beach, CA

My first instrument, many years ago, was the flute, and I credit it with showing me how wonderful learning music can be. Whether you are starting your musical journey or have been playing for years, I can help you take your playing to the next level.

About Cory

I am a classically trained performer with a Master's degree from London's Royal College of Music. I love finding each student's own learning style to tailor the experience, and I encourage my students to make their own decisions about musical expression (with plenty of guidance, of course!).

In my work as a performer I have played with orchestras all over the world, from the South London Sinfonia to the Bombay Chamber Orchestra. My musical life is full of variety, and I think that the experiences I've had as a musician make me a creative and thoughtful teacher.

I wouldn't call myself strict, but I do have high standards. I expect my students to put in the work at home, so that we can get the most out of lesson time, but I think that ...

Cory has been teaching my 11 year old son for only five lessons in Oboe and we couldn't be more than happier! Her calm and patient demeanor works well for my son. Cory is very knowledgeable and instructs my son without making it too overwhelming for him. Few weeks back, we had some company over and our son wanted to play a short piece for our guests. Everyone was so surprised that he only had two lessons and could play a melody (completely Cory's doing)! We feel lucky to have found a great instructor!

Cory is a credit to her industry!

Cory is the most professional, reliable, and patient piano instructor my granddaughters have had. She is not only teaching them the piano, but is providing them with an understanding of music itself. We are very fortunate to have Cory share her vast knowledge of music. She is a fine teacher and a wonderful person.
Kara M. Los Angeles, CA

I teach beginning to early intermediate level flute, focusing on technical exercises and appropriate repertoire.

About Kara

From childhood I considered myself to be a singer and entertainer. Feeling called to a career in music, I began my undergraduate studies in piano and voice performance at the Wheaton College Conservatory near Chicago, Illinois. I then spent two years in France studying voice at the Conservatoire de Nancy and was awarded the Médaille d’Or in 2004. I then returned to the United States to pursue my singing career. In 2005, I had the honor of being selected to join the Maryland Opera Studio at the University of Maryland. As a member of this prestigious opera program, I performed the roles of Sophie in Massenet's "Werther", Anne Sexton in Conrad Susa's "Transformations" and Rose in the World Premiere of John Musto’s "Later the Same ...

Kara has been my piano/voice teacher for the past few years.
She is an absolutely wonderful teacher. She is always encouraging, and her advice has always helped me immensely to perform better. Thanks to her, I won a place in the All State Chorus, and also parts in the school musical productions. She is always warm and friendly, has a fantastic sense of humor, so it was always a joy working with her. You cannot ask for a better teacher.

I had the distinct pleasure of studying voice with Ms. Kara Morgan over the past five years

I had the distinct pleasure of studying voice with Ms. Kara Morgan over the past five years. Prior to starting with her, I had not sung for a long period of time and it had been even longer since I studied voice. With her knowledge of the human voice and her ability to communicate vocal concepts, my vocal ability has exceeded my expectations. With Kara’s leadership and training, I have gained skill and confidence and I am now singing regularly as a choir member and a soloist. Diane Archer
Amanda C. Torrance, CA

I have been playing flute for 16 years and enjoying sharing my craft through teaching. My experience ranges from pep and marching bands to professional orchestras and church ensembles.
I have studied with many different instructors and have worked to create a method of instruction that is approachable and easily adaptable to the student's needs.

About Amanda

For students under 13, it would be preferable to have a parent in the room, unless the lesson is taking place in the student's residence.

Concert, Chamber, and Orchestra repertoire

About Joseph

Joseph R. has 5 years of experience teaching students elementary, middle school-aged children and adults on to how to play keyboard, guitar, flute and saxophone while sharing his learning experience with them as a self-taught saxophone and flute player and his more conventional education on piano and guitar.

After only a year of formal study, he began to experiment with other instruments such as the bamboo flute, the guitar and the drums. When he moved to the United States at the age of 13, he was introduced to the school’s band where he chose to hone his skills with the flute. Since then, he has been exposed to classical and symphonic repertoire. During high school, he joined the marching band ...

Edith N. Whittier, CA

I specialize in not only becoming a well composed soloist and ensemble performer, but to become technically, and musically advanced on flute. One of my main emphasis in lessons is to teach my students a variety of music and techniques for flute from baroque to contemporary and not only teach them to play it, but to understand the different styles and enhance their knowledge (which will then enhance their musicianship skills).

About Edith

Edith has been teaching private lessons since 2011 and has 8 years of experience on flute. She has helped students not only accomplish technical and musical excellence on flute, but has enhanced musicianship skills, and music theory knowledge. Edith is a dedicated and versatile musician with an extensive background in performance and teaching. She is a poised and charismatic performer and teacher. Her main goal is to help her students reach an advanced level in flute performance and music theory and inspire them. Edith is currently a third year student at CSULB, majoring in Music Education.
