About Me

Hello! Thank you for your interest in taking guitar/music lessons.

I am a professional teacher/studio musician/performer/producer with over 17 years of private teaching experience and a graduate of the University of Miami Studio Music and Jazz program in 2002 specializing in the guitar.

I am available to teach guitar(acoustic, electric, classical) for all levels, ages, and styles(pop to folk, rock to soul, world to classical) in English, Spanish and Japanese.

Other subjects taught include bass guitar, keyboard, harmonium, classical percussion, music theory, composition(all styles from pop to classical), ear training, and studio production/engineering/mixing.

Born in Cali, Colombia on April 1979, I began my musical endeavors studying the piano at the age of 6. Early on I had the opportunity to play percussion in the school symphony while at the same time developed an intense interest in the instrument that would become my true love, the guitar.

About Me

Hi! My name is Paul and I'd love to share the joy of playing the guitar with you! I have been a professional musician and teacher for over 20 years. I know much about playing the guitar and being an artist. I am passionate about music, which is why lessons with me are so fun. I know how to customize a program for the motivated student that will bring out the potential of the student at all levels. I will give the student a complete and practical program for advancement and help he or she discover their own talents at a pace that works for them. I even on occasion will conduct blues jams and other challenges such as recording and how to do a You Tube video production that will give the student a chance to use there developing skills by themselves and with others. About Me

I started playing music around the Kansas City area twenty five years ago. I graduated from The University of Southern California with a degree in studio/jazz guitar (cum laude). While at USC, I received a merit scholarship and an award for professional leadership and service within her department. I also graduated with honors from Musicians Institute (GIT), of Hollywood, CA.

I have toured the U.S. and Canada playing venues such as The Portland Rose Festival, The Playboy Jazz Festival, The Santa Monica Twilight Concert Series, Irvine Lake Blues Festival,The Burnaby British Columbia Blues Festival and the Long Beach Blues Festival. The headliners at these events included Robben Ford, The Neville Brothers, and Johnny Winter.

I have released two solo CD's that have received first-rate reviews, as well as international airplay. After the second CD, I was biographied for AMG (All Music Guide) the internet's first source for music information. Here are excerpts from the AMG...

About Me

Gilberto was born in Caracas, Venezuela where he performed with the Simón Bolívar Youth Symphony Orchestra as a youth and then later moved to Cologne, Germany to continue his musical studies at Rheinische Musik Schule Conservatory. Gilbert holds a double Bachelor's degree in Music Performance and Music Education from the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music at California State University of Long Beach. He continues to work as a professional flute player, vocalist, composer, arranger, producer, and music teacher.

Gilbert specializes in woodwind instruments (flute, saxophone, clarinet), beginning instruments (piano, violin, and brass), vocals (pop, Latin, Jazz), music theory and improvisation (Jazz, Blues, Pop, etc.).

He has studied and taught in places such as: Venezuela, Germany, Europe, Brazil, Taiwan, and in the Long Beach Unified School District in California.
