David C. Orange, CA

I have over 15 years experience teaching violin ranging from toddlers to college level music majors. I am a current MTAC member and have students regularly participating in performances and competitions. Lessons should be a productive and focused environment that is both fulfilling and, above all, an enjoyable experience. Of course it will be none of these if the student comes unprepared. We all learn in different ways and our personal goals are diverse. It is my job to assess students and customize a curriculum that will satisfy their needs. I take a strong focus on the fundamentals of violin playing. Technique is everything and opens doors to whatever path one might have an interest in. The violin is a complex and diverse instrument that teaches and requires self-discipline to succeed. Generally, i use the Suzuki Method for beginning students. Other books I use to develop technique include, Hrimally and Carl Flesch for scale studies, Kayser, Dont, Schradieck, Kruetzer, Fiorillo, ...

About David

Born into a musical family, I found a violin in my hands at age 4. Music is my true passion, and yet it is nothing unless I can share my craft with others. I am offering private violin lessons in the city of Orange. Whether you are seeking a music career or simply want to experience the benefits of what music can provide - which there are many - I am here to assist in your musical journey. All ages are welcome as well as all experience levels. With a commitment to learn, and discipline to practice, one can expect to develop a general fluency of the instrument within 3 to 6 months. The fundamental elements required to succeed on the violin are transferable and beneficial to all endeavors and pursuits.

I have a formal education in violin performance and am actively participating in ...

David Chavez is a phenomenal violinist and it is a priviledge to study with him.

Experience, education and extraordinary talent combined with the ability to develop proper technique, extensive knowledge of repertoire, and strength as a communicator make David Chavez one of the best violin teachers in Southern California.

Brilliant Violinist

In our lessons, David consistently demonstrated exemplary understanding of complex music theory, but was also able to impart his deep professional knowledge in a manner accessible to a neophyte such as myself. And further to his credit, he has the patience of a saint when it came to actually implementing difficult theoretical ideas.

David was exacting in his attention to the details of our practice sessions, and was also able to offer techniques to ameliorate my lack of dexterity. He noted that my physiology was likely a culprit and helped me find workable solutions to the problems.

Overall, David was dedicated, always punctual, a real pleasure to work with, and I could not recommend him highly enough to others.

We Love Mr. Joe!!!

Joe is very patient with my daughter. He truly wants her to learn and understand what she is learning and most of all to enjoy music. He goes at her pace while still encouraging her to set goals for herself. He will not move forward until she has mastered what she has learned.

Mr. Joe's passion for music reflects in his teaching!!

Music teacher that motivates his students.

My daughter has taken group and individual music lessons with Jose for three years. He is a teacher that meets students at their instructional level and motivates them to give their best effort in their learning. He also encourages my daughter with singing; he gives her vocal lessons in addition to guitar and piano. Jose also offers my daughter a safe learning environment. As a parent of a teenager, I greatly appreciate his patience with my daughter.

My fifteen year-old grandson decided to take up violin this summer. He has made such progress, and it is due in large part to Connie's positive methods of teaching--noticing what is right, and gently correcting what needs improvement. She is expert, analytical, kind and calm--what a combo!

Students can start with me as a beginner or as an advanced student looking to learn new practice skills, new technique, skills, and bow strokes. Students work on scales, exercises for tone and coordination, vibrato, solos, sight reading, rhythm, audition music, and orchestral music. They get 2-6 opportunities to perform per year. I can teach a variety of music styles such as jazz, classical, romantic period music, 20th Century music, contemporary music, bluegrass, Celtic, Irish Fiddle, Scottish Fiddle, movie music, and popular music. I recommend many youth orchestras in the area that I encourage my students to join. Some of my students go to Italy in the summer with their orchestra. I can help you work on audition music for All Southern Youth Orchestra and All State Youth Orchestras and other Youth Orchestras. I go at the student's pace and also start out many beginners that have reached Suzuki Book 10 level.

About Jill

What will music lessons do for you?

Problem solving and Memorization:

My students learn problem solving skills that they need to help them practice their instruments efficiently. Music helps students develop more areas of their brains and increases the capacity for better memory and problem solving. The skills they learn in their lessons can be applied to how they study for school and aid in memorization techniques. Music can also be similar to solving puzzles and putting it all together.

Can't read music yet?

Skills learned: I teach students how to read music and music theory as they learn their instruments.

Students learn how to perform for audiences and play for their own enjoyment. They learn how to work with other musicians and learn about stage presence for ...

About Angela

EDUCATION

My musical education began while sitting on my mother's lap as she taught piano lessons. I began studying cello with a member of the Kansas City Philharmonic at age 9, and at age ten, I followed in my mother's footsteps to play the flute. I played all three instruments, (piano, cello and flute) until high school when it was became clear to me that I wanted to be an orchestra teacher. With this dream in mind, I began playing the violin as well.
I graduated from Drake University with a Bachelor's in Music Education in 1989 and again in 1999 with a Master's degree.

PERFORMANCE EXPERIENCE

As a youngster, I was the youngest member of the Kansas City Youth Symphony and the Kansas City Cello Choir performing with these two groups for eight years. I was ...
