About Me

I am a 24 year old, fresh out of college, energetic teacher of almost any instrument, specially trumpet. I can teach in any style, and will not let you learn anything incorrectly! Lessons will be flexible and fun. I am willing to work with your schedule and will ensure that your lessons are worth it. I currently teach at FWISD in addition to these private lessons.

*** Lesson Details ***
Welcome to a friendly lesson. I prefer to call a lesson an assisted practice session. Simply put we play a PERFECT practice session together. I want to ensure that I teach you how to practice correctly so that every other time you touch your instrument, you are progressing to success! Therefore instead of teaching you this strange foreign language of music, I am assisting you in learning it yourself.

*** Travel Equipment ***
My Trumpet.
Their Instrument + required music.

*** Specialties ***
My primary instrument is Trumpet. I am certified to teach all band instruments (woodwinds, brass, percussion). I have chosen the instruments that I am most knowledgeable about. I have spent most my time with classical trumpet pieces, with the last 2 years focused on transitioning to Jazz trumpet.

Tammye D. The Colony, TX

About Me

I am a 2008 graduate of the University of North Texas with a Bachelor of Arts in Music degree. While at North Texas I taught trumpet lessons in the Denton area for five years. I have also taught piano, clarinet, and saxophone as well as all the other brass instruments. I have performed with the UNT Concert Band, the UNT Brass Band, the UNT Nine O'Clock Lab Band, the Collin County Jazz Band, and the San Jose Metropolitan Band.

Currently, I teach clarinet, saxophone, french horn, trumpet and piano in the DFW area. I also play percussion and trumpet in the Frisco Community Band, trumpet with the Frisco Community Brass Ensemble, and I conduct the Frisco Community Herald Trumpets.

*** Lesson Details ***
I am a laid back teacher who gets you playing from the first day.

*** Studio Equipment ***
I do require students to have a 3-ring binder for handouts that I give. You will also need to get any books that we play through (but I'll give you time to get them, so don't worry.) Any books that we use will be easy to find and won't cost a whole lot of money.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I will always bring my instrument with me when I attend a lesson, so I expect my students to do the same when they come to my studio. Also, make sure you have any books and music that we will be playing out of. I always have a copy of anything that we are playing, so I expect the student to have a copy as well.

*** Specialties ***
Alto Saxophone
French Horn

Sean M. Plano, TX

About Me

Sean became serious about trumpet at an early age. A Texas native, he spent the first years of his musical studies in Texas public schools, playing in local band programs.

At the age of 14, after being encouraged by his band director Marsha Anderson, and his primary trumpet teacher John Urness, he applied for admission to Interlochen Arts Academy in Traverse City, Michigan. He was accepted, and studied at the academy for all 4 years of high school, graduating in 2000.

While at Interlochen, he received the fine arts award for trumpet two years in a row. In 1998, he was a finalist for the Colonel George S. Howard Young Artists Competition held by the United States Air Force Band in Washington, D.C.

Sean holds degrees from the Eastman School of Music, and the University of Houston. While at Eastman, he received the prestigious Performers Certificate award for outstanding solo performance. He also pursued two additional years of graduate studies at Arizona State University.

He also has a wide variety of performing experience. Most notably, he was co-principal trumpet of the Hyogo Performing Arts Center Orchestra in the Kansai region of Japan from 2010-2013. He was also a member of the 2010 National Repertory Orchestra in Breckenridge, Colorado.

While studying in Arizona, he performed regularly with the Phoenix Symphony. Additionally, he has appeared as an extra with the Houston Symphony, the Paragon Brass Ensemble, the New World Symphony, and the Texas Brass Ensemble.

As a teacher, he has taught privately and given masterclasses for many schools throughout Texas. While living in the Houston area, he maintained a studio of nearly 60 students. He was also a clinition for the Phoenix Youth Symphony and taught at the Kansai International Music Academy in Japan.

His primary teachers are John Urness, Brian Seitz, John Lindenau, Ed Carroll, Stanley Friedman, Jim Thompson, Jim Vassallo, and David Hickman. He also studied briefly with Armando Ghitalla and Adolf Herseth.

Besides playing trumpet, Sean enjoys riding his motorcycle and building computers and electric bicycles.

He currently resides in Plano, Texas.
