We are pleased to announce, that we are now hiring instructors for guitar, bass guitar, piano, drums and voice lessons to take place in the following locations:
- Best Buy
Our lesson locations offer you the convenience of teaching in a specialized learning environment with top of the line instruments and learning materials, competitive pay and the opportunity to teach multiple students at scheduled day/times.
Position Details
Full time and part time positions available (schedules will vary based on location)
Competitive hourly compensation based on education and experience
Responsibilities
The following are the responsibilities of this job position.
- Provide skilled music instruction to beginner through advanced students ages 5 to adult
- Develop customized lesson plans and document use of curriculum; must be organized and purposeful with materials
- Track student progress through provided online journals and lesson notes
- Be professional, on-time, helpful, patient and friendly
- Maintain consistent communication with TakeLessons staff regarding student or policy questions, schedule changes, and lesson statuses
Requirements
Instructors must meet the following requirements to be considered for the position.
- Demonstrate a commitment to students' progress and success throughout their lesson journey
- Possess a bachelor's degree in a music field or equivalent experience
- Have the ability to instruct students of all ages and experience levels
- Have at least one year music or voice teaching experience
- Exhibit excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Submit to and pass a criminal background check; must not have any convictions for a crime other than minor traffic violations.
- Must have your own instrument for teaching
- Have reliable transportation and valid vehicle insurance
- Be at least 18 years old
It is a bonus if you teach more than one of the following instruments: guitar, bass guitar, piano, drums or voice.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I apply?
- Apply online providing us with information about your education and experience
- Our TakeLessons recruiting team will review your application and if it is a good match based on our current needs and the openings available, we will call you to schedule a phone interview
- If you are hired, we will then do a thorough background and reference check
- Once hired, teachers are required to set up an online profile complete with photos and a current biography. Teachers will also be required to attend a teacher orientation before teaching their first student
How much will I be paid?
- Compensation is based on educational background and experience, as well as location
- As a national location, we look at current student activity and market conditions in the instructor’s area to determine a fair pay rate
How am I paid?
- TakeLessons Lesson Center Instructors are considered employees of TakeLessons and not the company where the lessons take place
- Payroll is processed twice per month and is paid by direct deposit

Lesson Center teaching positions are available at various locations across the U.S.
