About Alex

I am passionate about sharing with you all the knowledge that I've obtained from over 45 years of of studying piano with some of the best teachers available in the country. I will help you to both discover that sound image that is only yours and then to work on how to make that image come alive for you at the keyboard. I promise that working together will be a fun and inspiring adventure into that most expressive form of communications which is Music. One of the best ways to judge a teacher is by the way he plays. I am a performing teacher, still studying, and will be giving my second solo recital at The Museum of Making Music in Carlsbad in February 2013 and will be playing masterpieces by Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Chopin and Liszt. You are, of course, invited to the recital or ...

Kyle N. San Diego, CA

About Kyle

*WHY TAKE LESSONS* Study after study shows that strong music exposure at young ages leads to academic success in all subjects. But the benefits propagate throughout your life - confidence, positive self-esteem, and the knowledge that working hard yields fruit. My job as your teacher is to help you or your young child along this path. It's not a stretch to see that music lessons, where you achieve success by diligent practice, teach patience and discipline. *WHO I AM* I'm a recent graduate of the Applied Music Program at San Diego Mesa College and a current senior at San Diego State University majoring in Music Performance. I've been teaching since 2011, and have had a blast teaching students as young as 5 and as "mature" as 65 (their words, not mine!). I specialize in classical ...

Great class

Kyle is an excellent guitar teacher. He is patient, entertaining, and seems to have all the natural assets of a good teacher.
He is very passionate about guitar and about music in all its aspects, and he clearly takes his job as a teacher very seriously. He was highly professional and very well-prepared for the lesson.
Danielle L. San Diego, CA

About Danielle

Hello Students / Parents! I specialize in providing a fun, inspiring and safe space for each student to reach their goals – whether that be for the novice singer whose been wrongfully told they “shouldn't sing,” the more experienced singer looking to branch out into doing more with their music or doing it professionally, or the budding songwriter, actor or speaker looking to develop the talent and drive they feel within them. I always remember the encouragement, patience and inspiration I received from my best teachers, and strive to provide exactly that to my own students. I sing and teach most vocal styles, with the exception of opera, and utilize our studio to create a supportive, empowering experience singing, writing and recording. I absolutely love to teach both children

Danielle is one of the most kind-hearted, positive women I know. I have been taking lessons with her for about 4 months now and she has really taught me a lot about myself and getting over my insecurities about my voice tone and singing in front of others. Her knowledge of the music industry has also really helped put the process all in perspective for me. Being somewhat of a closet singer, I look forward to her guidance each week to help bring this talent and passion for singing out of me!

Tim M. Poway, CA

About Tim

Since graduating from San Diego State University in 1986 (where I received my Bachelors degree in music and was the recipient of the Outstanding Graduate Award in music for that year), I have been able to be involved in so many areas of drumming, percussion(including mallet instruments like vibes and xylophone) and teaching. This includes being an adjunct professor in the music dept. at SDSU (1994-1998) and currently at Grossmont College. From performing with international jazz giants like Art Farmer and Hank Jones, and local legends Hollis Gentry and L.A. guitarist Ron Eschete- to performing in pop settings with my own top 40/classic rock band and backing bands like the Drifters or pop singer Peter Cetera, my experience is broad. I've played in successful pop groups. ...

My son Brian started taking lessons with Tim about 5 months ago. He can never wait for lesson day! I also never have to remind him to practice :-) He plays several other instruments and Tim has been able to advise him in some way on all of them, though Brian says the drums are his favorite. Brian feels very comfortable with him and says he is very supportive. He even helped me find Brian a new drum set! My son has nothing but good things to say about him, as do I :-)

My name is Chazdan Lane. I started taking lessons from Tim while I was in middle school and I am still taking lessons while in high school. The lessons have been great. I have improved my playing a lot and I have learned things I would have never though I would have learned. The lessons are fun and they help me improve a lot.

I have had several other trumpet teachers before, but Gary is the best! He has shared with me processes to improve my playing that are literally "trade secrets" from top level trumpeters that are helping me to take my trumpet playing to a whole new level. My wife is ecstatic at how good I sound! She even enjoys listening to my warm up exercises! I find Gary to be very responsive to my needs and adept at spotting where I need to improve. I could not recommend him more highly!

Gary made an immediate connection with my 9 year old daughter keeping her focused and excited for her lessons. His lesson plans are structured yet flexible enough to get the most out of our time while still having fun. He has a contagious passion for music and the horn, we couldn't imagine having a better instructor to work with

I play in a rock band that wanted to add some Sinatra type jazz songs to our repertoire. I was tasked to play bass with which I had very little experience. I decided to take some lessons with Gary to learn a little jazz theory and technique. He was a wonderful teacher. He focused in on exactly what I needed quickly and pointed me toward resources that I could use to improve. Despite my limited abilities, Gary was always patient and displayed good humor. When I needed him to write a bass line for me quickly so that I could take it on vacation, he made the time to make sure that I had what I needed. I enjoyed our lessons and recommend him highly. Gary is a teacher who truly cares about his students.
