Stefani's musical talents were first observed at the age of 5, when she began private study of piano and music theory. She played the alto saxophone for a brief period of 4 years during junior high and early high school, but then moved on to join the school choir at age 16. This choice led to the unexpected discovery of a beautiful, powerful voice. Stefani earned a Bachelor of Arts in Musical Theatre at the University of Tulsa, with special studies in jazz vocals, ear training, and theory. Her college career provided her with intense studies in the vocal styles of Musical Theatre, Classical, and Jazz. I received my B.M., M.M., and D.M.A. in studio/jazz guitar from the University of Southern California. While at USC, I was the recipient of the Outstanding Graduate departmental award and the Order of the Areté award. Since 2010, I have performed well over 100 shows with a 5-piece swing band called the Hi-Fi Honeydrops, who recently recorded an EP to be released on vinyl in 2013. As a faculty member of the Bachelor Degree program at the Musicians Institute in Hollywood, I teach private guitar lessons, sight reading, performance styles, and ear training. I also teach private guitar lessons at music studios in Torrance and Bellflower.
