Dan is a teacher and guitarist from Kansas City, KS. As a teenager he studied blues and jazz with former B.B. King sideman Dwight Foster. This background aided him when he took classes in jazz improvisation and music composition at the University of Kansas. At KU, he started giving guitar lessons and teaching English Literature to help pay tuition. He also joined the blues-rock/metal hybrid Inphobic, a group that went on to play with Carlos Santana, Everlast, and Cheap Trick among others.
After finishing his MA at Pittsburg State University, he returned to Kansas City and began teaching in the Kansas City, KS school district. His five years of high school teaching (to go along with another three at the college level) has showed him that being a great teacher is both the greatest challenge and the greatest reward. As a result, he has dedicated himself to combining that passion for teaching with his love for the guitar and music.
Over the last few years, he has developed guitar curriculum that both teaches students things they want to know as well as how to communicate with other musicians in almost any musical capacity. He frequently shows up at local jam sessions and plays studio sessions.

Welcome to my studio! Here is a recent blurb about me:
Marci began her classical piano studies at 8 years old, in the private studio of concert pianist Elaine de San Miguel. In addition to recitals, concerts, camps and master classes, Marci branched out into performing in a variety of venues, as an accompanist for vocalists, instrumentalists, choirs and musicals. When she wasn't playing the piano for people, she was taking voice lessons, singing in both traditional & show choirs, and performing in musical theater. Her favorite TV show is currently "Phineas & Ferb"! (Great music on that show, if you hadn't noticed!)
Marci holds a teaching license in the state of Kansas, and is classified as "highly qualified" according to the No Child Left Behind Law. She is currently working on finishing a PhD in developmental and behavioral psychology, and for 5 years taught Child Behavior & Development classes at the University of Kansas in Lawrence. Because of her education and experience teaching in public schools, she is unique in that she has an understanding of children and young adults and how they learn. She encourages her students to work towards their goals, but is patient and knows when a skill is currently beyond the child's grasp due to his or her individual development. Every child learns and develops differently, so each person's lessons are highly individualized.
Drum, Guitar, Music Theory, Percussion
My name is Michael. I have been playing drums/percussion for almost 11 years and the guitar for about 6. Along with my skills as a drummer and guitarist, I am also very knowledgeable about music theory and music in general.
As a drummer/percussionist, I can play a variety of instruments including, but not limited to; drum set, snare drum, bass drum, timpani, vibraphone, congas, bongos, etc. I am also very skilled in many different drum set styles such as rock, blues, country, jazz/swing, latin, reggae, and many others. If I had to label what kind of drummer I am, I would have to say that I'm a rock/blues type. I highly enjoy jamming along to bands like The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, The Rolling Stones, Rush, Neil Young, and all sorts of old school tunes!
Though my guitar playing is not as good as my drumming, I am a very skilled rhythm guitar player. What I mean by that is that I can do all sorts of chords and know a variety of different strumming/picking patterns. I like to apply my knowledge of music theory to my guitar playing to come up with different chord progressions and little solos based upon which scale to use for what chord.
All in all, I'm just a simple guy that enjoys playing and listening to music. Nothing brings me more joy than to help those who want to learn how to play along with their favorite songs. I believe that out of everything you can learn from in this world full of knowledge, music is the only one with a lot to learn, but is still fun to be involved in. After nearly 11 years of being a musician, I still have a lot to learn and am constantly improving every day!
