Laura believes that piano lessons are beneficial for everyone, not just the most highly talented; she strives to develop in her students a life-long love and appreciation of music, as well as the knowledge and tools to make music.

Laura began piano lessons at the age of five and went on to study organ, flute, guitar, voice, and harp. She holds Bachelor’s degrees in Piano Pedagogy and Performance from Texas Woman’s University and a Master’s degree in History of Music from Yale University. She began teaching piano during college and has maintained a private music studio in Long Beach, California since 1994, teaching students from age four through 84. She has served as organist and pianist for several churches and holds the Service Playing Certificate from the American Guild of Organists. In addition, she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin and recently retired from the spacecraft industry.

If you are interested in taking piano/keyboard, guitar or voice lessons...I would really like to be your music instructor. Raised in a musical family, I was introduced to music at a very young age. I took piano, organ, guitar, and voice lessons for many years, and participated in music recitals. I enjoyed singing, and with my music theory background, involved myself in every school musical, joined every choir, participated in voice sight reading competitions, and ultimately joined the New York All State Choir. After graduating from school, I focused on teaching children how to read sheet music and play the piano and guitar within parochial schools, public elementary schools, private in-home lessons, and instructed adults for the Continuing Education Music Programs located within Rockland County, New York and Orange County, California. Today, I am privileged to share music with special education students on a weekly basis.

I have taught private guitar, piano, bass and drum lessons since the late 70s in Salt Lake City, where I majored in jazz guitar performance, and since 1980 in Los Angeles. I make the lessons fun. Started off as a member of the church Junior choir and then went on to take my first piano class in the first grade.

Come high school, I was already joining rock bands as a pianist and a lead singer.
Took up the guitar in December 1990.

Since then I have been playing in amateur and professional bands, occasionally doing studio work for demos, soundtracks and tv commercials, while going to the UST Conservatory of Music.

I have also been teaching for the Yamaha School of Music since 92-93, and through all the gigs, shows, concerts, studios and stages I've performed in--I know that teaching teh next generation of musicians has always been my calling.

Music in general, and piano in particular, are simply what I love the most in this world. After receive my PhD in piano execution in Barcelona, Spain (year 2000), I did spend several years in several countries in Europe, playing piano in multiple events, competitions and institutions (like RTV Ljubljana, Slovenia). During those years, I reaches the peak of my career as a pianist.

Almost 8 years ago, once I established myself here in US, I started to switch my time toward other careers (SW engineering, Videography, etc..) and activities that previously I could not pursue.
