I have been playing music for over fifteen years and have been teaching professionally for over five. I really enjoy teaching and performing and I have won awards in music composition. I have a BA in Education and have taken numerous music courses in my academic career including Harmony, Musicianship, Composition etc. I have also taught in all cities in South Orange County. I am 25, I live in Laguna Hills, and I have always done well with younger students because I can relate to them better than a lot of teachers from my experience. It's always nice to see the expression on students faces when they learn to play something they listen to and really wanted to learn. It's a skill that you will carry with you for the rest of your life. I specialize in electric and acoustic guitar including rock, pop, and folk music.

I have studied, performed and taught music for over 25 years. Accordion was my first instrument at age 7 followed by drums and guitar. I studied with great teachers in the past as well as at the Berklee College of Music in Boston. I have also performed at the Cape Cod Jazz Festival, The Bakersfield Jazz Festival and numerous club dates and private functions throughout New York, New England and Califomia.

Music and teaching are my two life passions. I have been teaching music for over 10 years and playing for over 15. I was born and raised in Southern California and attended Newport Harbor High School. Upon graduating, I attended Berklee College of Music in Boston where I studied Guitar and Music Business.

After graduating from Berklee, I received my Early Childhood Teacher Certification and worked as both a preschool and toddler teacher in addition to teaching music lessons. I am experienced with all age levels from the youngest children to the oldest adults. I make learning music a fun and enjoyable experience for everyone!

Music has been a part of my life since I was 5 years old, when my father would record my brother and I singing. I always loved singing and learned many of my favorite songs as a child.

I started playing the trumpet in the 4th grade, which has led me all the way to receiving my degrees in Trumpet Performance and Music Education! I was lucky enough to attend one of the nation's top music schools, The Peabody Institute, and I now work toward my Master's degree at California State University, Long Beach. I have enjoyed performing in everything from big-band-lead to principal trumpet in the orchestra, leading brass quintets and brass ensembles, and much more! I received my B.M., M.M., and D.M.A. in studio/jazz guitar from the University of Southern California. While at USC, I was the recipient of the Outstanding Graduate departmental award and the Order of the Areté award. Since 2010, I have performed well over 100 shows with a 5-piece swing band called the Hi-Fi Honeydrops, who recently recorded an EP to be released on vinyl in 2013. As a faculty member of the Bachelor Degree program at the Musicians Institute in Hollywood, I teach private guitar lessons, sight reading, performance styles, and ear training. I also teach private guitar lessons at music studios in Torrance and Bellflower.

I began studying guitar as a teenager and began teaching at a music store just after graduating from high school.While in my twenties I taught myself steel guitar, banjo and mandolin. Most of my education has been practical: thousands (in the low thousands, but still thousands) of live performances, recording sessions and private and group lessons.

I don`t think there are any short cuts to learning an instrument (and I`ve been around long enough to see plenty of "master guitar in x number of days" gimmicks come and go) but a good teacher can help a student set realistic goals and meet them in a minimum amount of time.
