I am currently completing my Master of Music degree in Brass Performance (Trumpet) at the University of Washington. My primary teachers are David Gordon (principal trumpet of the Seattle Symphony), Allen Vizzutti (internationally acclaimed trumpet star), and Dr. Kathryn Aducci (Baroque trumpet specialist). I am pursuing trumpet performance at this level so I can be a role model for my students (whether they play piano, trumpet, or want to study music theory/performance). I have taken auditions, extensively studied piano and music theory, and performed in almost every ensemble that has trumpet.

Julia began playing the trumpet at age 11 in her middle school band. She found her real passion was singing, so she began training with a voice coach, playing piano, and performing in musical theatre productions.

In 2004 Julia entered the School of Music and Theatre Arts at Washington State University. She studied voice and piano and was an avid performer in the WSU Library Atrium Recital Series. She was cast in 6 productions of the school's Opera Workshop Series including "Jane Eyre," "Naughty Marietta" and "Der Freitschutz." She also played her trumpet in the Cougar Marching Band for 2 seasons. Julia taught private voice and piano lessons from her studio during college until she graduated in May, 2010.

I've been exploring music since age 13 when I started with bass and guitar. I've gigged around the Puget Sound area with different types of bands, playing classic-rock styles, blues, big band, r&b, punk rock, reggae/ska/rocksteady and experimental/alternative styles. I've played in numerous college ensembles. Performance and songwriting are my school-related focus now, and I've developed a songwriting and vocal presence in the last two years. With nine years as a music student and five years as a private lessons teacher I've collected techniques and tips that help students achieve a strong supported presence with their instrument. I continually put myself in both teaching and learning environments. I currently attend college private lessons for voice and composition.

I earned a Bachelor of Science in Contemporary Vocal Performance at the University of Colorado Denver in 2009. I graduated summa cum laude (with highest honors) and won the Outstanding Graduate award from the College of Arts & Media. I even sang the National Anthem at my own graduation, in front of thousands of other graduates and their families, an honor usually reserved for faculty.

While earning my degree, I specialized in singing, songwriting and the recording arts. I also professionally competed in an honors a cappella group. During this time, I took a great deal of leadership and learned how to assist choir directors in warming up and teaching new vocal materials to large groups of students.

Hello! My Name is David and I'm here to share my experiences and love of music with you! I had my first solo performance at age 9, joining a local boys choir shortly thereafter. My first local touring experience was at with that choir at 10 years old. At age 12, I started doing Musical Theatre. At 15, I went on my first European tour with my High School Choir, and knew this was without a doubt what I had to do with my life, so I began private voice and piano lessons. After years of involvement in as much Music and Theatre I could get my hands on, I attended Cornish College of the Arts, where I received my Bachelor of Music in 2006.

At Cornish I studied a year of Classical Voice, but most of my time was spent as independent major, splitting my studies between Vocal Performance and Composition. For me, having parents of different ethnicities and siblings that were much older than me, I was heavily impacted by the wide variety of music to which my family members listened. The force of this crayon box of rhythms and sounds captivated and affected me so much that it is the key experience that I draw from in making my own music today.

I grew up in Fairbanks, Alaska (a small town in the center of the state) so my only option for entertainment and fun was getting involved in the arts! I started performing at a very young age as both a dancer and a musician. I studied classical ballet, modern dance, hip hop and street dance, and world dance traditions throughout my formative years, which helped me to gain rhythmical fluency. I am the drummer & percussionist for Juno Award-winning, Canadian band, The Paperboys, touring regularly in Europe as well as the US and Canada. I make my home in the historic Ballard neighborhood of Seattle, where I teach drummers of all ages. During my time at Berklee I received two scholarships, The Korg Endowed for Early Childhood Education and the Scott Benson Scholarship, the highest award given for Songwriting.
