Maria was born in La Habana, Cuba. She started her music studies at the early age of 4 years old, singing and acting in tv shows and receiving piano lessons.
At 7 years old entered Manuel Saumell Music Consevatory where she studied piano and choir direction. She continues her music studies at Amadeo Roldan Music Conservatory, one of the most prestigious music schools in Cuba, where she completed piano, flute and theoretical subjects. In 2000, she traveled to United Arab Emirates, as a part of work tour, where she played for two years in different scenarios in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Back in La Habana, Cuba, she entered the Superior Institute of the Arts, where she graduated with honors in flute and piano performance.
In 2006 she moved to the United States where she continues her music career performing, recording and teaching.
Besides her performer career she's been trained as a teacher, having extensive experience with all ages, from 5 years old to adults.

I want to teach you how to express yourself through music. I've been inspired by music since I was young and have been involved in one way or another since I started piano lessons at age 3. I've been playing guitar for over fifteen years and written and recorded music for about eight. Whether you want to go into music seriously as I have, or just use music as a hobby and way to express yourself, I want to help you accomplish your goal.

Knowing at the age of 5 that music was my life, by being brought up surrounded by praise music and gospel, my early exposure to music helped me to find every Instrument and style just my thing! I wanted to play everything and learn all aspects of music. I started with singing in the children's choir and then developed into piano and music theory. At the age of 12 I began to learn classical guitar, and at 15 took on various styles like Flamenco, Jazz and Rock. I graduated from High School having played in the school band achieving recognition In national Institutions Like IAJE (International Association for Jazz Education) and state band finals. I was also composing from a very early age, and at 18 released my first album (self-titled) which can still be heard and purchased today through various music outlets, since i have released over 15 albums with various ensembles and bands. I love to teach music as much as I love to perform.
As a young girl I began taking private piano lessons which eventually led me to participate in the string program at my Elementary School. Not knowing anything about string instruments I was handed a Cello by the Conductor, and I've been playing ever since!
I joined the local symphony GMYS (Greater Miami Youth Symphony) throughout my highschool career which not only boosted my orchestral playing but was a great motivation to continue playing.
In the midst of my college career I became inspired to share my knowledge of music with young players.
My goal as a teacher is to motivate and inspire students with music whether they're beginning or advanced players, and of any age.

My second joy is performing with ensembles,
Such as the FIU symphony under the conductor of the Royal Philharmonic of London, Grezgorz Nowack.

I am a singer, pianist and guitarist who, through the arts, has achieved a lifelong love and passion for performing and teaching music. This love for music prompted me to pursue music education at the University of Miami's Frost School of Music leading to my certification for teaching music K-12 including band, orchestra, chorus, and general music. Using music, I plan to broaden my students’ perspectives, increase their appreciation for classical through popular music, and ultimately, improve their musical ability. I hope that through lessons we can explore my students' musical goals, helping them achieve their dreams as well.

After completing a B.Mus Honors degree in Performance in Ottawa, Ontario Canada in 2004, I moved to Winnipeg to study at the Master's level at The University of Manitoba. In 2006 I relocated to Miami Florida and have been living here since. I completed a Master's degree and a Doctorate in Jazz Performance at The University of Miami. I have been teaching and performing in the U.S. and Canada for many years in a wide range of styles- rock, alternative, blues, country etc.

Hi! My name is Barbee and I am pursuing a Master of Music in Voice Performance from the University of Miami's Frost School of Music. I recently graduated from the University of North Florida with a Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance, and I have experience teaching singing, piano, speaking, and music theory. I have taught students ages five to adult, male and female, with all levels of experience and many different musical goals. I have performed in Italy, the Czech Republic, and the US, in operas, musicals, oratorios, concerts, and recitals.

Alicia has been playing the violin since she can remember thanks to her very talented musical family. Because of their efforts she received her first exposure to loving and teaching music at an early age through attending and later assisting her mother's Suzuki string program. They also afforded her the opportunity to learn with some of the finest violin teachers Miami has to offer.
A proud alumni of Miami's public arts programs, including those of Southwood Middle School, Coral Reef Senior High and the Greater Miami Youth Symphony, Alicia encourages all of her school-age students to explore their options of participating in the various youth arts organizations in the community.
In addition to her 15+ years training in violin technique and classical repertoire, she also has had almost 10 years of classical piano instruction and has had the privilege to perform classical, jazz, blues, latin and pop music from coast to coast and in Europe.

My start in music began with trips from a young age to my mom's rehearsals. As a young child my first instrument of interest was the drums and noticing that I wasn't that good (sister playing better) I quickly moved on to other instruments. During my tenth grade year I joined my high school's marching band playing the trombone. I decided to continue the trombone as my primary instrument while in college at Grambling State University. There I was also able to study other instruments such as bass guitar, piano and organ. Going to college in Louisiana, which has such a musically rich environment, allowed me the opportunity to play venues such as casinos, clubs, appear in commercials and even a halftime show for super bowl 32 as well as other NFL games. My goal for teaching music is to give students the discipline to achieve all of their life's goals.

As a musician, I believe that the first task of an educator is to inspire and nurture the students so that they can grow and develop from an inner, self-motivated core. Then it is up to the teacher to form the students with the right tools so that they can achieve what they want to accomplish in an effective way. In the case of piano learning, this means proper technique, musicianship, and strategies for them to learn as quickly and efficiently as their own talent and dedication allows them to.
