I've spent years teaching from the Jazz Real Book, Mickey Baker books, and the Berkley Method books. I love teaching finger style acoustic guitar playing and good old blues rock on acoustic or electric.
I like to use Fast Track by Hal Leonard Book 1 it is an easy book to learn from. You learn your notes on all 6. Why because it is important to read music just as it is to play the guitar. Learn your favorite songs. Learn strumming patterns. Strumming is hard so it takes a bit. And yes your FINGERS will be sore for a while but you will survive!!!!
I started music at age 5. My parents were both professional musicians. My father was a professional jazz piano player and my mother a classical guitarist. So it is in the blood. I played a few instruments but my favorite guitar and piano. The bass is cool too. I went to Nassau Community College for Drama/Music I toured in theater groups and also was in a few bands while living in NY. I could not make up my mind so I did both. I love both ! I left NY to come down to So. Florida in 1991 due to my father's passing. Since I was new to the area I starting performing regular basis and became well known in the music community.I also went on a song writing spree which was good! I was able to do dinner theater in between the music. I met these two guys now my friends and music teachers from ...
Can teach you how to accompany a song, how to sing it by yourself, to make correct introductions and help you in your composing

I am confident in my unique teaching style. Most teachers focus on learning smoke on the water as opposed to learning a basic understanding the system of the neck of the guitar and the guitars role in music as a whole. I can also show how to translate music from one instrument to another. I can give you an understanding of all the instruments I have listed. I have taught over 20 aspiring musicians, and everyone has continued to play and write their own music.
I have been teaching guitar for 6 years. I have an earned Masters degree in music and enjoy teaching students of all ages. I am happily married with 5 children at home--4 of them are musicians as well (the youngest is 4).. Students will quickly learn not only the basics of music theory, but will be playing songs as early as their first lesson. It is extremely rewarding watching students have fun, excel, and fall in love with making music. I presently teach music at 3 schools (1 college) and only have a few lessons slots available. I look forward to working with you.
