About Murray

My musical career started at age 3 when my parents placed a pair of drum sticks in my hands. I started playing drums in church and then progressed to play in middle school where I was part of the jazz band and orchestra. With some very early lessons, I begin to blossom into a skillful drummer. I then continued to play in bands in high school and, in addition, became a member of the Milford Mill Academy Marching Band. In my sophomore year, I became the section leader of the drum line where I played & mastered the snare drum. I have 2 degrees in music theory from Deer Park Magnet school and Morgan State University. I have performed with many bands from all different musical genres such as gospel, funk, pop, jazz, blues, rock, Latin, reggae, and R&B. In 2004 I became the only ...

One of many words to describe Murray, AWESOMENESS! Meeting Murray and learning under his instructions has brought a bigger meaning to playing the drums. His love of drums and music shows in how he teaches his students. He never criticizes your mistakes and works along side of you, teaching you, until you learn and understand it all. He is very patient, professional and the best drummer I have ever met. I am truly blessed to have him as an instructor and look forward to many years of his teachings. Not enough stars in the world to rate him!!!!!

Wilma is a wonderful instructor. She is extremely patient and will go over the materials until the student understand and can play the lesson as required. I was able to sit and observe her in the lesson and was able to assist my son when he was practicing. She is always prompt and ready to go when we arrived. We never had to wait she was always prepared. My child is 6 and Wilma was able to get him focused on what he needed to do in class and he was able to replicate the lesson at home.

Music Theory and Music Performance

Ms. Wilma's enthusiasm for life and music shines through in her instrumental playing and teaching style. She shows a strong proficiency in many music genres and can teach different kinds of musical instruments.

She's reliable, experienced, professional, and easy to be around. One of her main strengths is her ability to convey musical thoughts in a way that is meaningful, constructive and easily understood.
I really enjoyed how she have enriched my ability to think about musical concepts, discuss theories in music, and listen to different types of music.

Austin G. Rockville, MD

I like to start my students off with a solid rudimentary and technique based foundation, to ensure the development of fluidity as they progress. I give recommend listening, and try to expose students to various styles of music as we also learn to play all their favorites!

About Austin

Music is something that everyone can share and express themselves through, and i want to help everyone to find that avenue of expression! I studied drums at the Drummers Collective in New York City, where i studied several genres of music. I play everything from rock, jazz, soul, R&B, Caribbean, and Latin music. If a student is interested in a certain style of music i would be happy to dive into that further, or explore other genres that may peek interest. The difference between me and many other teachers is that i genuinely love teaching and watching my students grow as players and musicians.

Jeff N. Silver Spring, MD

I've been teaching drums for the past 10 years, nine of those as the Director Of Drum Set Studies at Dale Music, Co. I will teach you how to read musical notation and I specialize in how to play using proper technique with solid timing. Two of the many areas that we'll cover are, The Rudiments as well as a variety of musical styles. A few of the instructional materials that we will work from are: "Elementary Drum Method" and "Realistic Rock" for the beginning student, "Stick Control" and "Syncopation" for the intermediate on into, "New Breed" and Alan Dawson's "...Complete Vocabulary" for the advanced student.

While my teaching style is relaxed, you will have to put in the work to achieve a level of proficiency. Keep in mind, "you can't get a full result with half an effort" and "the best shortcut is hard work." So, let's get to work!

About Jeff

Hi, I’m Jeff and I have been playing the drums for over 40 years and an instructor for the past 10 years. I began my teaching career at The School of Rock where I spent one (1) year helping the drum students learn to play along to songs from various rock groups such as The Rolling Stones, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Rush, Kiss and Led Zeppelin. We also covered funk artist Sly & The Family Stone, Stevie Wonder, Parliament Funkadelic and James Brown, to name a few. From there, I started teaching at Dale Music, Co., where I served as the Director of Drum Set Studies for the past nine (9) years with a concentration on performing jazz. My personal drumming style has been influenced by Steve Gadd, William Kennedy, Jimmy Cobb, Art Blakey, Steve Smith and Ndugu Chancler to name a few. ...

Jeff taught me for 7 years. Over that time he became more than just a drum teacher, he became a friend and mentor to me. I was always excited to go to his lessons because I would improve every day with him. Every lesson I would learn something new. Jeff is a great teacher and wonderful company, I'd recommend him to anyone. Perfect practice makes perfect and there are no short cuts.
