A native of New York City, my studies in dance include Jazz , Hip Hop, ballet, modern dance, and movement for theater. I have studied dance since the age of 10 at various schools and studios including Choir Academy of Harlem, The College of Staten Island as well as Barry University, and frequents Dance New Amsterdam (DNA studios) and Broadway Dance Center. I currently dance professionally with a Mixed Bag and Co. in NYC and have directed and choreographed award winning dance concerts for Art In Motion Productions in Miami.
I have been teaching dance as a choreographer for over 3 years. The focus is on precision and performance. I specialize in technique and pedagogy for all levels of dance as well as movement, staging, and stage presence for dance theater performances. I embrace raw talent and new comers with as much respect as advanced level dancers. It's all about passion, talent, and commitment.
Hailing from Connecticut, Janelle has come to make her mark in the dance world of New York City. As a recent graduate of New York University, Janelle has focused her attention on the arts. Not only has she begun to choreograph for such artists as Kitana Blade and such groups as MAD dance, she is a dancer herself, having performed in numerous PMT Seasonal Showcases, Alvin Ailey Student Showcases and many other venues throughout the city.
She has gone from being a student at New York University to being an adjunct professor where her classes range from Ballet, Modern, Jazz, Hip Hop, Stepping to African and Kathak dancing. Her life is "Dancing gives my life substance while teaching gives my life purpose."
She always looks forward to teaching new students and will welcome anyone in every class with a smile and a knack for instilling what she knows to those who participate.

I have been teaching piano for almost 40 years. I have a NY state music teachers license, a masters in music therapy from NYU, and a bachelors in Music Education and AFFA certification.
I try to keep the student self-motivated by using music that the student likes, as well as covering the basics. I use props which can be internalized by the student and gradually removed. For example, using stick-on letter names for the notes for a beginner and then removing them one at a time when the student feels ready.
I am friendly and very easy going; I'm not a disciplinarian. If a student doesn't practice for some reason, we practice together at the next lesson. If a student doesn't want to practice at all, I can be very creative in motivating them. I don't believe in parents forcing their children to practice, because this tends to turn the child off. Even though I tell parents that if your child doesn't want to play, please don't force it; I tend to keep students for many years (maybe it's because the student's self-motivation is so important to me and to their success).
I also have a lot of experience teaching handicapped individuals as a certified music therapist.
The music therapy has enabled me to be a better teacher in general because the therapeutic aspect comes up in all lessons, in one way or another. Music educators focus on the educational goals of music, while music therapists focus more on the therapeutic goals . A therapeutic goal might be increasing concentration span or self-confidence. These issues often need to be addressed in all lessons, and can only help the learning process.
Singing, Acting, Broadway Singing, Dance, Music Performance, Music Theory, Opera Voice, Speaking Voice
I have taught private voice lessons and acting for over three years in Miami, Minneapolis and NYC. I have also taught group intermediate ballet and have worked professionally as a singer/actress for the past ten years. My professional experience consists of various opera and theater companies both domestically and internationally. As a classically trained dancer, I also have a thorough knowledge of anatomy and how the body works to best support the actor or singer.
My formal biography is listed below:
Rebecca received a Master of Music in Vocal Performance after a very
successful two years at the New England Conservatory of Music. Rebecca was cast in
leading roles in every main-stage opera offered and was also chosen

Rebecca has performed for several companies both domestic and abroad, including the Florida Grand Opera, Operafestival di Roma, American Austrian Mozart Academy, Oberlin in Italy, the Minnesota Opera, Boston Lyric Opera, Opera North, and the Chicago Opera Theater. Distinctions include merit vocal and dance scholarships from St. Olaf College, American Musical and Dramatic Academy and New England Conservatory for a Master of Music in Vocal Performance. Rebecca is also a two-time scholarship winner from the Society of Singers.
A native of Seattle, Washington, Rebecca owes much of her captivating stage presence
to her extensive training in classical ballet, and made her professional debut in the Pacific
Northwest Ballet’s The Nutcracker at the age of nine. Rebecca has also studied ballet, tap,
jazz, and musical theatre at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy
in New York City, and at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota from which she also
