About Rebecca

Hello! I am a NYC public school teacher certified in Dance Education, Early Childhood Education, and Early Childhood Special Education. I have been teaching professionally for over 5 years now (tutoring for longer), and love what I do! Currently I teach Kindergarten, although I have taught both older and younger students. One of my strengths is an ability to form a quick connection with students, developing a trust and rapport with them. I have experience with a variety of curriculum methods and teaching approaches, as well as modifying lessons based on what each individual student needs. One of my specialties is handwriting, for which I am certified to teach.

Alexandra K. New York, NY

Over 14 years of dance training (ballet, tap, jazz, contemporary, pointe) and over 3 years of teaching.

About Alexandra

While my resume is attached, I'd love to tell you a little about myself. My education is in Theater from both Boston University and The London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts. This includes extensive training in acting, directing, writing, Meisner, Alexander Technique, production, dance, and entertainment history. After moving to New York, I quickly learned that my passions lay more in teaching performing arts rather than performing myself.

Teaching and helping others find tap into their creativity is a long rooted passion of mine. It began in Middle and High School when I was asked to choreograph the musicals in my town. I loved the challenge of visualizing a performance piece and explaining it to others. Witnessing a young person finally succeed in being free with their ...

What to Expect in a Private Dance Lesson

I will cater to what each individual needs, working with dance material you already know or teach you choreography to achieve the following:

-provide personalized feedback to help improve technical and artistic growth.
- give tools to improve and deepen your understanding of technique
- explain how to connect your expressiveness with your technique
- become aware of habits that hinder your technique or expression and learn how to change them

About Amanda

I have been a dance teacher in New York for 8 years, while maintaining a professional dance career. I am currently dancing with the Paul Taylor 2 Dance Company and on faculty teaching at the Paul Taylor School.

I have taught Master Classes and Intensive Workshops in the Paul Taylor style throughout the nation. I have also taught Vaganova Ballet at the Joffrey Ballet School. I have taught in numerous public schools through teaching residencies with Rioult Dance and Education In Dance. I believe those experiences have taught me how to assess individuals quickly and provide clear feedback in a positive and supportive way.

Deirdre T. New York, NY

I have performed and choreographed in a wide variety of styles - from musical theatre, baroque, flamenco, modern, and ballroom for over 35 years.

About Deirdre

I have been playing the piano since I was young. I have a special love of Spanish music, both classical and Flamenco, but I also play Bach every day. I began to perform Flamenco as a dancer and percussionist about 25 years ago. For 18 years, I produced the internationally touring Dance on Camera Festival, the pre-eminent dance film festival produced by the Film Society of Lincoln Center. As a writer, I have been published in over 15 publications. Right now, I write regularly for The Dance Enthusiast, an on-line web magazine. I have taught in the 5 boroughs through City Center in the public school system so I am happy to teach children and adults of all ages.

Marlene R. Astoria, NY

I've directed and choreographed countless music videos, including hip hop legend, 2Pac Shakur's last. My goal is to have you feel the music at your core and let your feelings inspire your moves and energy. Regardless of age or level, I'll have you moving.
I specialize in hip hop and house music.
I have people warm up first, with stretching and isolated moves. I then move on to demonstrating expressive moves that come from the feeling of the music, until you feel it is like electricity moving through your body. I can have you feeling comfortable and confident on the dance floor, or prepare for an advanced performance.

About Marlene

I love teaching people to express themselves in the performing and written arts. I am great with beginners.

I attended Ithaca College’s film program on a screenwriting scholarship. Since then, I've directed and choreographed over 50 music videos including 2Pac Shakur’s last, Amy Winehouse’s “F-Me Pumps,” as well as an award winning indie feature called THE BIG SHOT-CALLER. It was well received by the New York Times and critic Kam Williams gave it four stars. I was selected by FILMMAKER Magazine as one of their “Top 25 New Faces of Independent Film.” I have since written and directed three different comedy web series on YouTube entitled “My Parents Are Crazier Than Yours,” “Angry Gladys,” and “I ...
