Take some time to explore! You can read about each instructor's background, specialties and teaching style in their profile, read feedback from past and current students, and check out audio and video clips.
We want to help you find the perfect teacher for your unique goals and interests. Is there a specific technique you want to work on? A particular genre you're hoping to master? All of these should be taken into account, so you can find a teacher who has the expertise needed to teach you what YOU want.
Here are a few resources to help you make that decision:
Once you've selected your teacher and timeslot, click the "Schedule Lessons" button to get started. Select between Monthly, Quarterly, and Flex packages.
Click on “Availability” on your instructor's profile to see which timeslots and days are open, and to find out if in-home lessons (teacher traveling to you) are offered at that time. Learn more about our booking policies.
Booking your lessons online is easy and quick. Once you've selected your teacher and timeslot, click the “Schedule Lessons” option to get started. Enter in your contact information, and the prompts will guide you through payments, program options and confirming your schedule.
Signing your Student Agreement and completing your Student Questionnaire is the last step! The questionnaire will give your instructor valuable information about your goals and experience level, and give him or her time to create a customized lesson plan right from the start. Your teacher will be notified once you've completed this last step.
We make paying for your lessons convenient and hassle-free! Prices vary based on several factors, including the city you live in, lesson length and whether you're taking lessons at home or in your teacher's studio. Lessons are paid for in advance, which reserves your timeslot each month with the teacher that you've selected.
After you've booked your lessons, you're ready to get started! Take some time to prepare for your first lesson and think about your goals.
Once you've signed the Customer Agreement, your teacher will be notified and will call you within the next couple of days. During this initial call, your teacher will confirm your first lesson time and provide you with directions to their studio, if needed. We also encourage you to discuss your goals and any other questions you may have at this time. At this point, you're all set for your lessons! Your teacher will customize your lesson plan based on what you want to learn, so don't be afraid to speak up.
Each TakeLessons student is unique, and so is your lesson plan. You'll work with your instructor to develop a lesson plan suited to meet your specific goals. If you put effort into your lessons and practice regularly, you'll definitely see improvement. Most TakeLessons instructors will keep track of your progress with a lesson journal, which will help you organize what you need to practice and what you've accomplished.
