Who are TakeLessons music instructors?

We are proud of our instructors! Not only have they have passed through our rigorous certification process, but they are truly friendly people, dedicated to your success.

We work with instructors all over the nation with a variety of backgrounds and experiences to work for us. The majority are full-time instructors with a college degree, teaching a wide array of genres and techniques. We have instructors who have performed with famous musicians, who have been on television, and some who still regularly play gigs. Our instructors can choose whether they teach out of their home studios or travel to the student, or both.

Even though they may teach different subjects and live in different cities, our instructors share in our passion for helping students live their dreams by learning to sing or play an instrument.

Private music instructor certification process

Of the thousands of instructors that apply with us each month, less than 5% become a TakeLessons Certified™ Music Teacher. We use a proprietary 7-step process to identify and maintain top quality teachers which includes:

1. A completed job application including educational history, teaching experience, audio and visual samples, etc.
2. A thorough interview with our professional recruiting specialists
3. Personal and professional reference checks
4. Criminal Background checks processed annually
5. Consistent teacher training to continually improve teaching abilities
6. Customer quality feedback scores
7. Teacher retention scores monitored on a monthly basis

With these steps we find the top instructors who are great on paper, even better in person, safe to let into your home, and make learning FUN!.
