I have been teaching Piano for 16 years now. I have taught students from age 2 1/2 - Adult. I was self taught when I was a kid and begun taking formal lessons as a very young adult in my early twenties. I graduated from CSULB with my BA in Music concentration on Voice. As a Music major you spend a lot of time at the Piano. I became a member of MTAC in 2004 and a member of Sigma Alpha Iota in 1998. I have a great passion for Music and a bigger passion for the Piano and sharing the wonders of how beautiful the Piano really is.
*** Lesson Details ***
In my opinion Piano is the hardest instrument to learn but the most rewarding. If you can play Piano you can pretty much play any instrument. I believe that a Piano lesson should be fun. I'm a strict teacher with a smile and a giggle. I push my students to greatness while helping them love the Piano through the good times and the bad. I'm a very encouraging but honest teacher. I complement when warranted and I assess not so good performances in a honest but encouraging manner. I always let a student know that though their performance was not their best they can and will improve. It's always only a matter of time. I use the Schaum and Nevin series depending on the students personality. I teach Classical and Pop Music. It's important for a student to learn the Classics just as important as it is for them to play things they like. I find the happy balance between the two. I teach Beginning to Intermediate levels. I also like to incorporate Music theory into the lessons because understanding the mechanics of Music helps make playing and creating Music much easier to accomplish. A typical lesson will start off with a hand drill warm up. We then will move on to the lesson book and repertoire. Theory will be assigned as homework. I look it over at the beginning of the lesson and discuss it and answer question in the last five minutes of class. Baby lessons go as followed: 15 mins. of play time and 15 mins of Music theory. I like to keep structure in my lessons but sprinkle a little joy and laughter to keep the atmosphere lite. It makes for a much more attentive Piano student.
*** Travel Equipment ***
I expect the student to have a Piano or Keyboard of some sort. I may provide music on occasion.

Hi, I'm Bri! I'm a graduate of North Central College with a BA in Music (Emphasis in Composition and Percussion) and a minor in History. I absolutely love music, every single aspect of it. I want and love to make music a part of everybody's lives who want and need it. I want to help you with your musical needs. I have been playing percussion for 15 years, singing for 20, and playing piano for 17 years. I am currently in a recording and performing band, Oblio and Arrow, and am also working on orchestrating a musical with a company.
History has always fascinated me. They way our world has developed and changed, and continues to evolve is amazing. Everything can be tied back to the past, and I feel it's important to take a look back, put yourself in that time, and really study how things were to help understand why things are the way they are now.
Crocheting and knitting are a couple of good habits/hobbies I picked up about 6 years ago. I sell scarves online and I'm always working on some sort of project. I will have you knitting and pearling with the best of them!
Music, history, crochet, and knitting....I'm your girl!
Crocheting, Floral Arrangement, Spanish
I have been crocheting and sewing since elementary school. While I know the basic knitting stitches, crochet is my true love!
I'm a native Spanish speaker who has resided and attended college in the Southern California area. I can teach reading and writing as well as to communicate in Spanish.
Please feel free to send me a message regarding classes for crochet or Spanish.
Crocheting, Fiddle, Jazz Voice, Knitting, Music Performance, Music Theory, Ukulele, Violin, Vocal Training
I have been involved in music my entire life, and I love sharing my knowledge with others. I began taking vocal lessons from the age of 9 and have studied a variety of genres such as Musical Theatre, Jazz, Classical, Rock and Roll, and Folk. I studied Voice Performance at Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA.
I have been playing the violin for 16 years, and was classically trained from the start. I was involved in the Award-winning Sacramento Youth Symphony for several years before heading to Berklee. I was a member of Berklee's Contemporary Orchestra, and was involved in string quartets, Celtic ensembles, and led my own band. During college I branched out to fiddle styles such as Jazz, Celtic, and Folk, and became known for my improvisational ability.
Since moving to the West Coast, I have performed at venues including House of Blues Sunset, The Viper Room, The Hard Rock Cafe, The Pasadena Playhouse, and more. I am an accomplished songwriter, utilizing voice, violin, and ukulele in my arrangements.
My vocal instruction style varies based on the genre my students wish to pursue, and I have had excellent results. One student went on to tour in the international company of Bring It On - The Musical.
As a violin teacher, I instruct in the traditional style, and highly believe in a solid basis in reading music. As a fiddle teacher, I teach both from the page and by rote, and focus heavily on rhythm. I am happy to provide references from current students, if needed.

I have been performing as a musician for two decades, starting my education as a woodwind player and settling in to the wonderful world of singing. Music has opened me up to so many opportunities like touring the world, performing in marvelous concert halls, and working with some of today's most revered artists.
Music has been my salvation. It has been a best friend and constant source of joy, and I share this gift with others so that it might offer them the same. In this 10th year of teaching, I have new experiences to draw from and share with my students. Having spent my last 6 years performing with Disney and this past year touring Japan in their cast has given "performance" a new depth. I'm excited to dive back into lessons with these fresh ideas that will mix well with my tried and tested teaching techniques.
Originally from Los Angeles, I'm enthusiastic about expanding to San Diego and I am so excited to share my experiences with the people of this beautiful and inspiring town!
