About Octavio

I have been teaching voice for 5 years and my beginner students are already singing their own gigs. I have had only one advanced student in singing and in 2010 he got the zarzuela prize in the most prestigious opera competition in the world "Placido Domingo´s Operalia). I can teach in Spanish, English and Italian. and for voice I specialize in opera and mariachi music. In guitar as well as in Piano I only teach beginners.

For voice I only take students from 15 years old and on. This is only because the children's voice is very delicate and I think it requires a teacher who specializes in children for it is a big responsibility. Once the puberty voice change is gone: this is my field of expertise. with great discipline and a huge desire ...

Mr. Octavio knows how to motivate a child. My son gets easily distracted with telling stories, etc and Mr. Octavio is able to get him to focus so well. He has an excellent combination of firmness with motivation. Plus he really knows how to get my 8 year old to understand lessons. Highly recommend!

Robert is a very competent, patient, and kind music teacher. He is always trying to be encouraging and practical. He pointed out my strong area and weakness in a honest and comfortable way. I improved so much during the pass six month of singing lesson and am happy to learn some lovely songs. Now I start guitar lesson with him. Both singing and guitar lessons are challenging to Robert and me as I am not a young learner and everything had to start from the beginning. It has been a pleasure learning music from him. He loves animals and lives with his wife in a lovely apartment; they have a dog, a cat, and a turtle.

My teacher has been challenging me with work specifically designed to help me in the
areas where I am weak. I have walked away from every lesson with at least one or two new things to immediately help me improve. I couldn't ask for more than that. I plan to take four more lessons before evaluating my progress again. To say I am
pleased with the quality of teaching I have been receiving would be an understatement.

Bobby is an excellent teacher.

My daughter is eight years old, and she has had an excellent experience with Bobby. He has a gift for being able to push her and correct her while encouraging her at the same time. She loves her weekly lessons.
Andrew D. Houston, TX

Hi there. I'm Andrew. I have been teaching for about 5 years now and it has become one of the things I truly love to do. When I am not writing, reading, gigging, touring, or recording, I love to teach people the things that have made my life so colorful.

With a little push in the right direction, you can become an active participant in the things you love. No more watching from the sidelines. Become the musician, writer, speaker, reader that you have always wanted to be. It's never too late! Trying something new or asking for help can be intimidating, but I am happy to show you that the rewards far exceed the costs. Trust me, I speak from experience (as a tutor should, I would think!). I've taught personalized lessons for over 5 years now without a single complaint. At this point in my musical career, the majority of my experience and attitude has come from being "in the field". I've played South By South West, Westheimer Block Party, opened up for bands like the Misfits and ...

About Andrew

Music is my life. As cheesy as that phrase goes, for me, it holds true. I'm Andrew. Everything I do and have been doing has been geared towards music. I've been in one working/gigging band or other without break for the past 8 years. I began intensely learning to play guitar at the age of 9 and have not stopped. The second I started learning I knew that that was what I wanted to do. Fast forward to now, and here I am loving every minute of it. I took lessons of my own as a kid, which helped shape me greatly. I then picked up bass at the age of 13.

Amazing teacher

Andrew is really an amazing guitarist and teacher. As a female, at first I was nervous to show up at a "random" male teacher's door, but he made me feel really comfortable right away. I feel I'm really progressing with him, more than I could ever have done on my own.
Thanks Andrew!

Quite knowledgeable and strong teaching skills!
Eric M. Houston, TX

I've played guitar for 8 years and taught many people how to play. Rather than just teaching you a few songs, I'll give you a solid foundation in music theory and how the guitar fretboard is set up; that way, you can really excel whether you're doing covers or writing your own songs.

About Eric

I am 25 years old, and I have over 6 years of experience teaching and tutoring.

Aside from tutoring in the United States, I have also taught English in Spain and worked for the US National Park Service to run a summer education program for students in Kenai Fjords National Park.

I teach guitar, math, chemistry, physics, earth science, environmental science, biology, Spanish and English. My schedule is very flexible and I love teaching. I believe that learning should be fun, and I emphasize the importance of understanding the underlying logic of a subject rather than simple rote memorization.

I especially enjoy teaching guitar and anything related to writing. I am a published journalist and science writer; I have written for National Geographic, In These Times magazine, The ...

Zane W. Houston, TX

I have been plain guitar for 10 years now. (professionally for 3 years) and that is still my current occupation. There is no obstacle I cannot help you climb from the beginner student to the advanced.

About Zane

Zane W. starting taking lessons from Guitar Institute of technology graduate, Charlie Lair at 12 years of age and studied with him for 6 years. Zane began serious classical voice lessons when he was 18 from Dr. Paul Busselburg, and is now currently taking speech level singing.
He has taken 8 music theory courses and 8 ear training courses. Also, he is a proficient song writer.
Zane has been teaching both singing and guitar lessons for 4 years.
***He recently lost touch with most of his previous students due to working with t.v. show "The Voice" but is passionate about sharing his gift with others now that he is back in Houston.

Guitar Lessons in Houston: More than Just Strings

By Andrew D. - Houston Guitar Teacher

Have you ever wished that you had a secret world -one that you could retreat to any time you desired? A world that you alone could shape and, each time you returned, remained completely untouched by any hand other than your own? That world exists, and not in some distant galaxy or in the dreams of those deep in sleep (although they may exist there as well). That world exists in music; more specifically, that world exists when you dive into the world of learning to play music and musical instruments. Learning, growing, changing, and moving with music as it moves with you. When you take guitar lessons in Houston, all of these things are possible.

This is the reason I love to teach guitar lessons in Houston. To be able to share MY world that I ...
