I have had a regular studio of violin and piano students in the Boston area since 2006. I began teaching in 2001 in Seattle, WA. I perform regularly as a soloist, chamber musician and orchestral player at the Longy School of Music, in the Freisinger Chamber Orchestra, the Dorchester Symphony Orchestra and the Boston Civic Symphony Orchestra.

My primary focus in my teaching is to guide my students to becoming independent musicians, and to help them develop a thorough understanding of music. Lessons include learning about music theory, sight reading, performance skills and technique. I have a thorough understanding of pedagogy and a true passion for teaching students of all ages.

I discovered my true passion when I started playing guitar at age 13. Ever since then, I've branched out to other types of guitars (Acoustic, Electric, Sitar, Banjo, Ukulele) as well as many different genres (Rock, Blues, Hip/Hop, Metal, Classical, Reggae, Progressive, Ambient, Folk, Experimental, Punk, etc.). The importance of songwriting, melody crafting, harmonic arrangement, and lyrics came to me when I discovered the true talent of groups like The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Jeff Buckley, Simon & Garfunkel, and Pink Floyd. I taught myself how to sing and how to play the piano about 6 years ago.

Originally from Mexico City, Mexico. Guitarist Guillermo O. start playing guitar at the age of nine. By age 15 he was performing punk and rock music. At age 17 he was accepted to the "Escuela Nacional De Musica" (UNAM) where he studied classical guitar. He has performed with famous comedian Eugenio Dervez in the biggest Stadium in Mexico. Guillermo also composed the music for several documentaries, and short movies. In 2003 he attended Berklee College of Music and graduated with a degree in Jazz Composition and Performance. Guillermo also composed the music for the original musical play "Beyond the Journey" . It was performed as a stage reading on 42nd Street in New York, NY in 2010. Guillermo has been working as a music teacher since 2005. He teaches private instruction and group and ensemble lessons as well as composition, harmony, sight reading and music theory.

Hello, my name is Jason! I have been surrounded by music for my entire life. My father, a Berklee School of Music graduate, is an accomplished guitarist who introduced me to many forms of music as a child. At age seven he introduced me to Ringo Starr’s drum solo in “The End” by The Beatles and I knew that I wanted to learn to play percussion. Since that time, I have studied percussion theory and technique extensively with Shawn Green and Kevin Fortunato, both Berklee graduates. I studied film scoring, music theory, music history, and electronic composition at the Cambridge School of Weston under Gustavo-Assis Brasil (another Berklee graduate) and Michael Weinstein (the school’s music director and Berklee professor with an extensive list of degrees and credits). Hi, I'm Jackson. I have been playing guitar for about 8 years and I have been a student in the UMass Lowell music program for two years (and counting). I have also done a large amount of solo and group performing, arranging, and composition. What I offer students is patience, a willingness to conform to your needs, and great enthusiasm and passion for the guitar and music theory. I have been playing the Violin for over 15 years. After studying for years through the Longy School of Music in Cambridge with a Moscow Conservatory teacher and graduate, I moved on to College under the direction of a Juilliard graduate and teacher. My goal is to make my students as passionate about the violin as I have been. Nothing would mean more to me than seeing my students become excited and motivated about this wonderful instrument, and ultimately grow into a skilled musician. I am currently in the process of receiving my master's degree in teaching music, and look forward to developing my students into the best violinists that they can be!

So let me tell you a little bit about myself. I've been drumming since the age of 14 when I was a member of the world renowned drum & bugle corps the 27th Lancers from Revere Massachusetts performing in front of audiences of 10,000 and more.

Through the years I've performed on drum set in many styles and genres. I started performing locally as part of the thriving early 80's Boston music scene and most recently I was a founding member of the popular all acoustic Beatles tribute band Glass Onion. In between there have been many projects in many different styles.

I have studied at Berklee College of Music under the tutelage of internationally
known drummer Larry Finn. I'm currently completing the Specialist Certificate in Drums program at Berklee.

I am a graduate of the University of Massachusetts Amherst. I have a wide-ranging experience in the music world, playing a variety of styles and a variety of orchestrations. In 2007 i was lucky enough to join Wynton Marsalis at Avery Fischer Hall in New York. Two years later, I had the honor of playing drums behind Dave Brubeck and saxophonist Grace Kelly at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. I strive to not only assist musicians in expanding their technique and vocabulary, but also to encourage musicians in accessing their creativity and spirituality. Music is an incredible tool through which we can achieve amazing things, and through the practices of improvisation, ear training, and musical internalization, we can achieve so much more.

In 2012, I graduated from Brandeis University with a degree in Music. I graduated Summa Cum Laude with highest honors in music. I also received the Reiner Prize in 2010 and 2011, an award for the best student composition of that year. I'm currently pursuing an M.F.A in Music Composition/Theory at Brandeis, which I will complete in the spring of 2014. Additionally, I've had the chance to study individually with world renowned composers: Melinda Wagner (winner of the 1999 Pulitzer Prize in music), David Rakowski, Eric Chasalow, and Yu-hui Chang. Over the past 5 years, I've had consistent private composition lessons with these 4 teachers. They've filled me with their wisdom, and I want to pass it on to you.

I am a certified high school teacher who enjoys teaching people of all ages to play the guitar and bass. In addition, I have a masters degree in music from Bates College. My educational philosophy is to focus on the goals of individual students and then develop lessons and practice routines to help to achieve these goals. I am most proficient in rock, blues, folk and jazz styles but I have an open mind and I am willing to help you tackle any form of music. I have been playing the guitar since 1995 and the electric bass since 1999, I am very easy to get along with and I am sure that I will be able to help you become a better musician. I previously played guitar with the Ska band Mrs. Skannotto (2000-2003) and bass in various rock bands.
