I have been playing drums since I was 10 years old. I loved playing drums so much that it became my life work. I was so advanced at an early age that I began giving lessons and teaching drum line when I was 13. I joined my first professional rock band at 15, and I have been playing and teaching music ever since.
I was fortunate to play in one the worlds top drum and bugle corps, the Santa Clara Vanguard, I also studied Jazz from the area's top jazz drummer, Dick Carlo, who was a student of Joe Morello. My technique is a unique combination of Jazz, Orchestral, and Rudimental styles. The luckiest part of my education was that I went to Lynbrook High School, which had the top concert band in the California. This is where I learned to play concert and orchestra music, and I learned about style, and musicianship.

I have been a guitar and voice instructor for over 15 years. I really love this job! I had a real hard time learning guitar when I was growing up because of an accident to my left arm, but I wanted to play so much that I was able to overcome it. Because of this I think I have learned to be a very patient teacher. I have played the guitar for over 20 years. My music education began with piano lessons at age seven. In my early teens, I began to focus seriously on learning the guitar. I had private lessons on and off over the next ten years. When I wasn't taking lessons, I was learning songs on my own (picking them out off the radio, etc.) and building off of what was instilled in me by my instuctors. In the last ten years, I have performed in three bands as a rhythm guitarist. In terms of my teaching experience, I began by teaching a group guitar class (students ages 11-14). I also have 5 years' experience as a private instructor. I am a teacher by trade and I love my job. I am very passionate about music and am comfortable teaching students of all ages.

I have over a decade of experience both performing and teaching piano and bass, in almost every style of music. I have also studied music theory at Binghamton University, and studied jazz theory and performance with Doug Beardsley.

I have toured the country, opened up for large acts(Art Alexakis of Everclear, Ron Sexsmith), I currently play in professional symphonies(Columbia and Vancouver Symphony), write music for documentaries and commercials, and am finishing my degree in Percussion Performance at PSU. In addition to this experience, I have studied with drummers Gary Hobbs(Stan Kenton), and Sean Wagner (Cherry Poppin' Daddies"). I have been teaching privately for about 15 years now, and have students that have gone on to do amazing things in music!! I have been blessed with the experience of playing with some world class musicians, and was deeply inspired by the love, passion, creativity, and dedication these musicians bestowed upon me. I started teaching music lessons at the age of eleven, in after school programs. I continued to do this for many years, driving to neighboring towns, volunteering at youth groups and local Boys and Girls Clubs.

I went on to study Music Education at Oregon State University and Guitar Performance at the University of Oregon. At each of these Universities I taught students my age, and a few professors, as well as locals in each town.

I continue to teach in Portland, and volunteer at two recording studios around town. I can and will provide references to each new student upon request.

I love teaching kids as well as adults of all ages! I strive to make my lessons comfortable and fun as well as challenging.

I have been playing drums since the 6th grade where I was in concert band and jazz band. From there I studied with a local teacher and went on to study music at Oregon State University. While at OSU, I participated in band camps and a percussion ensemble for middle and high school kids which led me to my passion for teaching younger students.

My performing experiences include playing drums and percussion for many different groups. I've played drums for progressive rock, jazz, Brazilian and punk rock groups as well as percussion for the Corvallis-OSU Symphony Orchestra and the Newport Symphony Orchestra.
