Luke P. Winston Salem, NC

About Luke

I majored in music at Berea College, then went on to The University of North Carolina School of the Arts, where I completed a Masters degree in guitar performance and served as the graduate assistant to the guitar department.

For the past ten years I have earned a living performing and teaching guitar. I am a certified Suzuki instructor, and I've held teaching positions at Winston Salem State University and the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, along with at least half a dozen other schools and institutions. I've been featured on other artists' records, and received a grant to release an album of my own songs. I regularly perform in a wide variety of bands and ensembles.

I love to teach, and over the years I have taught hundreds, maybe even ...

Luke was a very helpful teacher. He knows what he is talking about and is very receptive to questions and concerns. He will lead you in the right direction whatever aspect of guitar you are willing to delve into. I came to him knowing only a couple of chords and songs and came away after a summer of lessons knowing much more about music theory and feeling much more confident in my playing.

Astoundingly Stupendous

Luke has it all figured out. He can teach anyone, and has a great personality. Great guitar player and an even better teacher. Teaches everything that will help you to master the guitar. He is that teacher that lesson comes to an end, you wish it lasted longer.

Excellent Guitar Teacher

Luke is a very fine guitar teacher. His mastery of the guitar is evident through his teachings, which I am fortunate to experience weekly.
His teaching style is different than those I have previously gone through, but is a style I personally enjoy more. He relies (for me, at least) less on book-work, and more on improvising and learning to use different techniques freely, which in my opinion gives me a better understanding of the instrument. My knowledge of guitar and music theory increases with every lesson, but in a way that is not overwhelming; he teaches the information in such a way that it builds very naturally upon itself lesson after lesson, and through instruction and practice I am aware of my guirar skills constantly improving.
Luke is an excellent guitar teacher, and I would recommend him to anyone.

About Robert

Both my mom and dad were musicians and taught private lessons at home, so I grew up wanting to be a part of the music making. Now I am a university music educator who performs frequently as a soloist and collaborative pianist. I hold piano performance degrees from Carnegie Mellon and Yale. In addition, I've studied chamber music at the American Conservatory in Fontainebleau (France) and vocal accompanying at the Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria. I perform as a church musician, choral accompanist, and recital pianist in traditional and more modern styles. I'm active as a collaborative artist in competitions, auditions, and recordings. In the past three years I've been studying ballroom dancing for fun and as an extension of my interest in experiencing music from the ...

About Jaime

***Teaching Philosophy***
I believe music is essential in education, as it teaches self-discipline, improves mental function, and enriches the soul. As a voice teacher, I believe in teaching healthy technique and opening doors to many genres, and fostering creativity and self-expression through composition. I encourage students to participate in choral and dramatic groups to hone their craft, as well as to help push them past their self-imposed limitations. As a cello teacher, I encourage involvement in orchestras and chamber groups, as they teach teamwork and develop listening skills. Music is such an incredible form of personal expression, and I aspire to help my students find their true musical voices and share them with others.

During my career as a professional singer, Jaime has always been the first person I call for help with my CCM (Contemporary Commercial Music) technique. Over the years, she has helped me tremendously to develop a healthy belt technique and to increase my belt range as well. It would be an understatement to say that she knows her stuff. Oh, and she's an incredible classical singer, too. Just saying.

In addition to the breadth of her vocal knowledge, Jaime is as passionate about and dedicated to her students as you could ever want from a teacher. She always makes learning music fun and accessible, and she will be a champion and friend to you. Jaime is one of the finest singers and teachers I know.

About Blayne

As a teacher and mentor, I strive to teach each of my students to be a complete vocal musician. By this, I mean a vocal musician who has complete mastery of all aspects of a fully trained, confident, and competent musician. This includes knowledge of vocal production, musicianship, music history, and music theory. It is my job as a teacher to teach each student how to control their instrument and make the most beautiful sound. I also strive to engage each student in the history and theory of music. These tools are the fundamentals of music and therefore must be a component of a complete vocal musicians training. Musicianship is the creative aspect of each musical artist. It is developed and discovered throughout the training process. I believe that discovery is the greatest tool I have to ...

It was a pleasure taking online piano lessons with Heather. She was very patient and understanding when it came to learning new concepts. The lessons were down to earth and didn't make me feel like an elementary school kid (I'm 24). I highly recommend Heather if you are an adult learner like me. Although, I think she would do great with younger students as well. I thought it might be weird to learn piano over the Internet, but it was a great experience and I never felt limited by learning this way.
