Keith S. Fairport, NY

About Keith

I have a master's degree in musical education. My main instrument is guitar, and I have played in rock groups, studied classical guitar with a student of Pepe Romero, and am a solid blues player. Receiving my NYS teaching certificate has allowed me to teach band and lessons in public and private schools for twelve years. I have taught most band instruments in these settings, as well as a beginning guitar class and a guitar ensemble. In my younger years, and while in college studying music, I have developed great piano skills as well.

If you want to learn guitar, this is your guy.

As a guitar player with already some years of experience, Keith was able to guide me in a way that others could not. With his friendly attitude and vast knowledge of the instrument, I was immediately hooked on wanting to learn all I could and Keith is gladly accompanying me on the journey. Beginner or advanced this is the teacher for you.

What a great teacher!

Keith Silliman is a talented musician who meets me where I am at as an adult learner of piano. He is magically able to help me play music rather than just notes.

my piano teacher Keith S. makes learning piano fun.

My piano teacher has a relaxed approach that makes our lessons comfortable. He creates an environment that makes me feel at ease and able to enjoy learning piano. We focus on timing and rhythmn patterns and he will sometimes play the same notes next to me so I can see his hand position and learn when I would change to accommodate my playing the piece. Keith is a wonderful teacher and I appreciate his comments and direction.

About Alex

At 22 years of age, I feel I have come a long way with my passion for music. From southern Louisiana, I began my involvement in music by taking piano lessons at the age of 5. I began trumpet studies in my school bands starting at the age of 10. I have won numerous music awards and am pursuing a career in orchestral trumpet performance. I love sharing my knowledge with students and inspiring them to become better musicians. I have given trumpet lessons and clinics at various K-12 schools around Louisiana while studying music education at Loyola University New Orleans. I recently moved to Rochester, NY, to pursue my degree of Master of Music Performance and Literature at the Eastman School of Music, studying under James Thompson.

I've known Christian for a few years. We went to school together and have done a decent amount of playing together. He's very professional, talented, and knows what he's doing. Hes a top rated teacher and player. Anyone studying with him will learn a lot from him. Very highly recommended.

My 11 year-old son is taking beginner tuba lessons with Christian. He was getting very frustrated in band but even after just a few lessons has improved significantly and is much more confident during band practice. Christian has shown a lot of patience with him and encourages him to progress rather than hang out and play what he is already comfortable with.

And as a mom, I LOVE Skype lessons. I was a little worried that the lack of 'hands-on' could be an issue but it is not at all. We started with just 5 lessons, but I anticipate many more:)

I had my first lesson on Saturday the 13th, I was in a lot of doubt about taking lessons on line. I was not setup for it all the way my lab top was not putting out no sound. I was saying to myself here we go half of my lesson spent on fixing mechanical problems, but that was not the case. Christian figured it out with no problem and before you knew it I was into my first lesson. Christian was great we went over some different things and I was playing again. It felt really good to be playing notes with someone there to critique your performance good or bad. My goa is to get better each week. Thanks Christain
