I took Piano lessons from 3rd grade through my first year of college. I worked my way through school playing for my high school chorus, in college playing for a small country church on Sundays, and playing for other family events, weddings and funerals. I earned a Bachelor's Degree of Interdisciplinary Studies with a Concentration in Education in August of 1996 from Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, KY. I participated in the University Singers and continue to play as often as I can just for fun.

When taking piano lessons in my home studio, the student can expect at a 30 minute lesson, 15 minutes of playing and 15 minutes of theory. I use the Bastien Series books for both playing and theory. During the last five minutes of the lesson, we discuss a historical aspect of music relating to what the student is learning at that time, i.e. usually discussing a certain composer. I also include a snack for little ones learning the piano during this time. I try to make it fun because the time does go by fast.

I am an original New Yorker, but have lived in Virginia Beach for the past 12 years. I began studying piano at the age of 8 and have not stopped playing since.
