About Dan

I have been playing guitar for 29 years, starting with Rock/Blues before studying both Classical and Jazz guitar in college. I received my Bachelor of Music degree from Berklee College of Music in Boston in 1995. I am currently a guitar teacher in the NW Chicago suburbs and in Chicago currently with 40+ students, teaching all ages, all levels and all styles. I have been teaching guitar and music off and on for the past 19+ years but in 2007 I decided to devote myself to teaching full time (yes, teaching guitar is my primary job!)...one of the best decisions I have ever made!

To me, playing music is an incredibly rewarding experience. It€™s also a lot of fun! But no matter what your goals are in music, I have found, through many years of playing and teaching, that every ...

Best Teacher and Encouraging

I have had Dan as my Guitar Teacher, he is the best in teaching Guitar from the basics. I started with him as nothing since I do not have any Musical Background, He encouraged me well to understand the Music notes and Guitar Tabs. Every lessons with him was so much interesting and particularly he asks me to choose my favorite song and explore the Guitar notes. That makes the learning interesting and willing to explore the different types of Music.
Any questions I asked about the Music, he could explain by the way that I can easily understand. Every second in his class is valuable and has some good information about Music.
He is the Best and I always feel proud to say that I am his student.

Best teacher i've had

Dan is amazing. I've had him as a teacher for a few years and I have already learned to play Hotel California, Johnny B. Goode, and many other songs. Dan brings his own equipment so that you can get printed handouts whenever you want. He is quite instructive and explains things in simplest terms. If you are having some trouble with something, he breaks it down into smaller pieces. Dan is definitely the best teacher I have had.

I really do recommend her if you are looking for beginning or advanced teaching. She will take you far.

Anyone young and old will enjoy learning to play the piano with Terri!

Terri is the perfect match when it comes to being my piano teacher. Not only is Terri knowledgeable and professional, she is also very patient and encouraging. She has made me appreciate the challenge of learning the piano by combining technique and theory along with fun and laughter in my lessons. With Terri, the lesson is not over until she makes sure I understand what she has just taught me. She is the best! I am so lucky I found her! I highly recommend her!

More people should know about Take Lessons.

My Instructor, Terri, is knowledgeable, patient and flexible. I am a professional, mature student with a super busy schedule who had never played a musical instrument before. Terri has been able to provide the knowledge and encouragement that I need, along with the enjoyment of playing the piano. I could not have asked for a better fit. Terri is valuable to any age group.

Highly recommend! Has been my son(s) teacher for about six years.

Terri is extremely professional and works well with children. She enjoys teaching and laughs with the children. She makes learning the piano fun, and will allow a child to pass and play similar songs at that level so the material is not monotonous and boring for the child. It also gives the child confidence when they do not have to repeat the same piece, but can learn the material from different books and pieces rather than repeating one song over and over. Terri is not a time watcher at all, but cares more about the child getting the lesson and understanding it well. I am so very glad I found her to teach both my sons. Highly recommend!
