As a lifelong professional musician, I have always provided private lessons throughout my career. As others have helped me,I also realize the importance of helping others to develop musically.
I realize every student has different goals and aspirations and I'm able to provide those needs, whether it's the basic tools that every young musician needs to possess or a more intensive strategy to get over a hurdle and move to the next level of achievement. I am adept at directing individuals of all ages to apply their talents and bring out their best. But, probably most important of these, is developing a joy for music itself, all the while learning and gaining skills.
I am a founding member of "Big Twist & The Mellow Fellows", a popular group that recorded ...
Saxophone is my life! I have played saxophone for 16 years and nothing makes me happier than sharing my knowledge with others. I have a BM Jazz Studies/Saxophone Performance from Western Michigan University.
While my passion is jazz, I also have plenty of classical experience. I love teaching saxophone!!
I have been magnetized to the saxophone ever since I was introduced to the music of John Coltrane in the seventh grade. Since then I have been in a constant pursuit of deepening my understanding of music and all its beautiful forms, and sharing that knowledge with those who are interested!
Hailing from Flagstaff, Arizona, I attended Western Michigan University on a four year scholarship and received my Bachelor of Music, Jazz Studies in 2009. While I was there I had the incredible privilege of studying with the great Trent Kynaston, as well as performing with some of the most influential jazz musicians today, including Bobby McFerrin, Stefon Harris, Billy Hart, Fred Hersch, and Randy Brecker. I now live in Chicago where I teach lessons and perform regularly with my band, The Winchester ...
My Saxophone teaching approach is centered around physical ease, capacity for sound, and freedom with the instrument. Lessons are guided by the student's interests and direction.
and also function as an incubating ground for the student's interests and direction.
Staff reading, tone production and intonation, music theory, and ear training are at the disposal of the Student.
Music begins with the body. We can begin by making it very comfortable to hold an instrument and produce sound. From here rhythm, melody, and song come naturally.
My goal is to be there to help you absorb the music with as little obstruction and effort, making learning easy, enjoyable, and gratifying.

I have been playing saxophone for 12 years, and I look forward to being able to share some of my knowledge and experience with you! I have a BA in Jazz Studies from Columbia College Chicago, and learned from many incredible performing artists and faculty while I studied there.
While I teach mostly classical and jazz saxophone, I also have experience with pop, rock, funk, etc., so nothing is off limits here!
I have been playing music since the age of seven, starting on piano before switching to saxophone. Throughout elementary and high-school I received private instruction in both classical and jazz, and performed with a variety of ensembles including concert bands, saxophone quartets, jazz big bands and combos, funk bands, a Motown cover band, and a ska band.
I then attended Columbia College Chicago, performing in their top jazz combo and leading the saxophone section of their big band for three years. I was fortunate to be able to study privately with both Geof Bradfield and Scott Burns during my time there as well. I graduated in 2014 with a Bachelor of Arts in Jazz Studies.
I also had the opportunity to perform with and receive master class instruction from many great artists such ...
