My name is Louis and I have been playing percussion and drums for over 30 years. I grew up in Michigan with constant exposure to music and brought it with me to New York where I have been living since the late 60's. I am always expanding my knowledge of music of music from all cultures.
I currently play timpani with the Band of Long Island and the North Shore Symphony Orchestra. I also have been playing 3rd Surdo with Samba New York as well as Singing with the Glass Menagerie. I have accompanied the Great Neck Choral Society on timpani, am well versed at many world musics and have played drums and percussion in various musicals.
I have a Bachelor's Degree from New York University in Music Education teaching students from K-12. I have had experience teaching elementary students in general music, recorder and instrumental ensembles. I started playing the drumset at age 12, and have been playing for 20 years, and teaching for 5 years. My drum playing covers many different styles including Rock, Jazz, Funk, Punk, and my favorite, Progressive Rock. Soon after I started playing drums, I played in my high school jazz band, orchestra, and marching band. I have been playing ever since and still love it 'til this day.

As a younger brother at the age of five, I began studying the piano because my older sister did. After my foundation in music strengthened I fell in love with the trumpet. At first, each note took time to develop and I enjoyed the challenge. The trumpet allowed me to travel all over the Southeast later in life and even to China with a 1940's Radio Show. I am an extremely experienced Cellist and Guitarist with nearly ten years of performing and teaching experience. I have been playing guitar since the age of five and cello since the age of eight, and have performed all over New York, Ohio, and North Carolina, as well as Italy. Roland R was born and raised in New York City. He started playing drums at the ripe age of 12. Throughout his schooling, Roland was a member of Concert Bands, Jazz Bands, and Drum Corps. He eventually started to explore playing music outside of school with friends and independent musicians around New York City. My love affair with music began in his childhood home in Israel, surrounded by European classical music and opera. When the 1960’s pop revolution started to filter onto Israeli radio from England, Sarel became captivated with the simplicity and lyricism of the Beatles. In 1989 Sarel began his jazz education at Berklee College of Music, where he began an intensive collaboration with Jerry Bergonzi, who encouraged and honed Sarel’s improvisational skills. I have taught as an Elementary Teacher for over 28 years. I taught in a public school in Queens, New York. I have a reputation of being patient and creative. I believe in teaching to benefit the student at his or her potential.
I attended Queens College and received my BS degree in Elementary and Early Childhood Education. I received my Masters degree also in Elementary and Early Childhood Education in 14 months.
