I have played violin since I was 9 years old, and love the instrument. I play in an orchestra of professionals and serious amateurs that plays all over the DC area in various venues, including a performance a year at the Kennedy Center.

I love violin and love music, but players need to recognize that to play it well, which I can teach you to do, you need to apply yourself and practice. There is no substitute. I can teach you probably the best way to play and practice, because I took lessons from a man who was a student of perhaps the greatest violin teacher of the 20th century, and learned the basics of it. John started teaching at the age of 19. His drum teacher gave him a couple of students after he expressed interest in teaching. He has been teaching and performing from the age of 19. His performing included a job with a Funk Band which gave rise to traveling in what he describes as “Tough coal mining towns in West Virginia”.
When the Funk Band ended he went to New York City to study at the Collective-where he studied for four years with instructors who were professional musicians. His teachers at the Collective were “sidemen” with groups such as the Pointer Sisters, Dizzy Gillespie, and Manhattan Transfer. John's teaching style and versatility come from these patient, helpful, humble and generous people who themselves were wonderful musicians.

I began playing bass and guitar when I was thirteen years old. I took private lessons and, looking back, could never of come as far as I have without them. In the nineteen years since then, I have played just about every type of music - from rock and metal, to folk and musical theater. I have played covers and originals. I have performed on large stages and tiny coffee shops.

And I loved every single minute of it. I hope now to bring that love of music to new students.

I found my mom’s guitar tucked away in the attic when I was nine years old and banged around on it for about a year hoping that I would miraculously be able to play like Micky Mars from Motley Crue. ...Eventually, my parents persuaded me to take lessons. I ended up taking lessons all the way through high school and college. Around 9th grade I started playing in a few bands on college radio and at bars and parties.

Ska and punk were huge in the early 90s when I was first starting on guitar, Reggae and Hawaiian music were also extremely popular where I grew up: Honolulu, Hawaii. Music is something that everyone can share and express themselves through, and i want to help everyone to find that avenue of expression! I studied drums at the Drummers Collective in New York City, where i studied several genres of music. I play everything from rock, jazz, soul, R&B, Caribbean, and Latin music. If a student is interested in a certain style of music i would be happy to dive into that further, or explore other genres that may peek interest. The difference between me and many other teachers is that i genuinely love teaching and watching my students grow as players and musicians.

Jessica moved to the Chevy Chase/Bethesda area in 2009, having grown up and gone to school in New York and Ohio. She loves the area, and she and her husband are thrilled to be putting down roots in the community. As a performer, Jessica has traveled around the world, but throughout her career teaching has been one of her most important focuses. "As a relative newcomer to the DC area, growing my private studio has been a great way to get involved in the community. My teaching style is individualized, but I always try to include two important things: building a strong basic skill set, and developing creativity."

Edvinas M. is widely regarded as one of Europe’s top emerging young pianists, one whose extensive repertory, solid technique and musical expression have led him to perform throughout Europe and North America.

Starting July, 2012, Edvinas served as a Jury and Board member of the Salzburg Festival and a Board member of Mahler Philharmoniker in Vienna, Austria. His upcoming 2013 performances include a performance of Beethoven’s Second Piano Concerto at the National Gallery in Washington, chamber and solo performances at Carnegie Hall, concert tours in Europe and South America, among others.

Recent performances include recitals of Mozart and Schubert music at the Mozart-Schubert Festival in January of 2013, hosted by the Austrian Embassy in Washington and produced by the Embassy Series. I'm a local musician and I've been playing guitar for 15 years. I still remember the excitement of getting a guitar for my fifteenth birthday, and then the realization that I have no idea what to really do with the instrument. Now I'm here to help!

I have a degree in violin and piano from the Boston Conservatory as well as a Master's Degree from the University of Maryland. I have additional training as a Suzuki teacher. I have played all around the world including the Vatican, White House, Paris, Russia, England and Wales as well as in Concert Halls such as Carnegie Hall and Kennedy Center. I have taken students with me to perform as well in these countries and also every major concert hall in the Washington, D.C. area. I give my students opportunities to perform whenever there is an opportunity. In addition I work with students to earn music scholarships to private schools and colleges. Recently, I was given the honor of judging a major string competition.

Music has been an important part of my life. It represents so much that is good in life and I do my best to communicate this to my students. I am training my students not just to be musicians but to love music for life.

I am a Doctor of Pharmacy student at the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy who recently graduated from the University of Maryland College Park with a Bachelors of Arts in Jazz Studies with a concentration of Jazz Piano.
