MY PROMISE TO YOU:
1. Your lesson will always be geared toward what YOU want to learn, and if it seems like we are working on something that doesn't match that, I will always take the time to make clear why what we are doing will have you be able to play what you want.
2. You already have every skill you need to be a great performer, and my job is just to steer the ship in the right direction to have that happen. All I am ever doing in a lesson is making sure that we are moving you in the ultimate direction that you want to be going musically.
3. I will do everything I know how to do to make sure that what I have learned that will benefit you becomes something you have mastered. If I could take the "computer chip" in my head and put it in yours, we would do that. Study with me and you will get the next best thing!

Formerly in the field of international studies and marketing as an active professional and a recipient of first place at Sonata/Sonatina Competition of CAPMT in 2004, Howon resumed her music studying in 2005 when she was accepted to the master program at USC, which led her to appear on numerous stages in Los Angeles and vicinity as a solo and collaborative pianist, including Zipper hall at Colburn School.
Her formal education in piano as a major started at the age of 16 when she entered Seoul Arts High School in Korea which was followed by studying at Seoul National University.
While she was building her career experience in international marketing when she immigrated to the US, she pursued her piano education under Dr. Heewon Kwon at Colburn School of Performing Arts. At USC, she studied with Antoinette Perry and received her Master degree in Music, Piano performance. Currently she teacheds in southern California as a member of MTAC.

I have played piano since I was young. I studied piano at CSU Long Beach where I received a Bachelor of Arts in Music with a certificate in Music Therapy. I have since worked as a Music Therapist. My style of teaching is supportive and patient. I would look at the needs of each student and guide them at their own pace.

I am a graduate of Azusa Pacific University with a Bachelors Degree in Vocal Performance and Music Education. For the past four years I have been the Vocal Director for all the major musical productions for Arts and Learning Conservatory at Vanguard University. I am also the Vocal Director at Music Theater of Orange County. I teach piano and voice for 45 students at Virtuosos Russian Music Academy in Fountain Valley. I have been the tenor soloist for the Oratorio Choir and Orchestra at the University of Northern Iowa. Performed in thirteen countries as a professional singer. I performed in 49 states in the USA for 18 years. I have recorded 15 CDs.

I am a young (27), and energetic lover of music. I want to instill that love in any student that I teach so that a long-term skill can be developed and cherished. Lessons with me can help in a variety of ways: improve your piano skills in general; grow in your appreciation for music, especially Jazz; learn chord theory and how to read lead sheets; learn how to write a good tune that can get noticed.
I have a Bachelor's of Music in Jazz Studies from Brigham Young University where I had the chance to work with renowned musicians such as Cannonball Saxophone sponsored artist Ray Smith, BMI Jazz composer's workshop member Steve Lindeman, and first-call drummer Jay Lawrence. I am currently studying with Grammy award-winning composer, arranger, and Jazz pianist Bill Cunliffe at Cal State Fullerton as part of my Masters of Music degree in Jazz Performance. I have been teaching piano lessons for over 7 years now, and also have been working as a freelance musician.

I am a piano teacher with BA in Music from Odessa State Academy of Music, Ukraine. Currently I live and work in Cypress, Orange County. Each student is going to progress at a different pace. I believe that all students can thrive in a learning environment that is stimulating, comforting and appropriate to their abilities. Music Lessons improve the mind, body and spirit. Also child development studies prove that Music Lessons improve school performance and grades. As I teach piano to my younger students, I look to help them develop life skills through music. For my older students I aspire to reduce stress in their lives. Regardless of age I work very hard to improve all of my student’s memory, brain function, and coordination and most importantly teach them how to simply have fun! I think that teacher requires the qualities of leadership, compassion, flexibility, humor and above all an ability to communicate at a level the student understands.

I love being a teacher, but even more than just that, I thoroughly enjoy assisting others on their journey to learning and making music a personal experience for themselves.

Having said that, here is my teaching philosophy, including what you can expect from me as a teacher and as an individual:

PHILOSOPHY OF TEACHING

Each student who comes to me is an individual. I customize each lesson, keeping in mind the student’s level of interest, goals, and intent. I put great care into judging when to push, when to pull back, and when to stop altogether and regroup.

Sometimes there is frustration and as a teacher it is very important to take that experience and turn it into a positive learning situation. During the course of a lesson, we’ll take a "breather" and simply talk about the day, or work on material that is enjoyable and instills a sense of self-confidence —anything to release the tension of acquiring a new language-the musical language. Music has been a part of my life since I was 5 years old, when my father would record my brother and I singing. I always loved singing and learned many of my favorite songs as a child.

I started playing the trumpet in the 4th grade, which has led me all the way to receiving my degrees in Trumpet Performance and Music Education! I was lucky enough to attend one of the nation's top music schools, The Peabody Institute, and I now work toward my Master's degree at California State University, Long Beach. I have enjoyed performing in everything from big-band-lead to principal trumpet in the orchestra, leading brass quintets and brass ensembles, and much more! The trumpet has been a huge passion for as long as I can remember now!

While I was learning songs as a child, I decided I wanted to join a band! Now here we are 10 years later and I've have the fortune of performing as a lead singer in bands across the country, and let me tell you there is no bigger thrill than getting...

Classically trained with years of performance and practical experience. I know how to help you make the music that you want to make. I am well-versed in nearly all music styles from classical to contemporary/pop. I am currently active in both piano accompaniment, vocal performance with the Pacific Chorale, and directing a very active north orange county community choir.

I recently completed my music credential and have graduate degrees in Education and Music.

I am especially gifted in teaching beginning piano, fundamental vocal production and dramatic presentation.

EDUCATION

My musical education began while sitting on my mother's lap as she taught piano lessons. At age nine, I began studying cello with a member of the Kansas City Philharmonic. At age ten, I followed in my mother's footsteps and played the flute. I played all three instruments, (piano, cello and flute) until high school. It was clear to me by age fourteen that I wanted to be an orchestra teacher, so with this dream in mind, I began playing the violin as well.
I attended Drake University and majored in music education, studying cello under the Nationally acclaimed John Ehrlich. I returned to Drake University and received a master's degree in counseling in 1999.

PERFORMANCE EXPERIENCE

I was the youngest member of the Kansas City Youth Symphony and the Kansas City Cello Choir. I performed with these two groups for eight years.
I was chosen from applicants nation wide, to perform in Carnegie Hall and travel Europe with "America's Youth in Concert".

Marc is a graduate of UC Berkeley, and is currently working on his Master of Music in Piano Performance at Cal State Long Beach. He has been teaching piano students for the past five years and has worked as a rehearsal pianist and accompanist. He specializes in classical piano, but also has experience in musical theater and jazz ensembles, and has performed on period instruments (harpsichord and fortepiano).

My name is Alice B. I've been playing piano for a total of 20 years and have been singing since before I can remember! I was Classically trained in piano from the age of six to eighteen and had the privilege to compete in various regional competitions throughout Southern California and perform in a number of recitals during that time. I studied voice for 3 years from the age of seventeen to twenty-one in both Classical and Contemporary/Jazz music. I had the amazing experience, 5 years ago, to record a 3-song demo and will hopefully get another opportunity to record again. I currently perform weekly at my church and music is my passion!!! Music to me, is a beautiful oxymoron - both intricate and simple! Intricate in its technicality...Simple in the emotional imprint it leaves behind!! As a teacher, my goal is to convey these elements and teach my students the importance of discipline, patience, determination, and hopefully open their eyes to the wonderful world of MUSIC!!
