I have performed professionally on stage and in the studio for over 20 years. I studied music with a double major in guitar and bass guitar. I also play flute and keyboards. I began my musical training at 10 years old learning how to play guitar. I have a deep love for music and began to teach what I know to others and found that teaching music is very rewarding. I like to help others discover the joy that comes from learning and playing a musical instrument.

I am great with young students just starting out and make sure that learning their instrument is a fun experience. With teenagers and adults, I not only teach guitar methods, but also the basic principles required to "jam" with other musicians. I also work with bands and ensembles teaching basic performance techniques required to perform live.

I have a B.S. in Music Education. I have worked with several disabled students patiently guiding them, finding creative ways to make music accessible to them. I believe it is not about me or the parent, but the student. I work with children of all ages believing that we can find a way that works so that in a few months you see results. Anyone can learn to sing or play but not everyone is going to enjoy it without the right approach and teacher. I don't want to hear a student say that the teacher didn't listen to me, they wouldn't entertain my ideas.
I have in my studio a keyboard that attaches to my laptop for the young musical composer as well as a Baldwin Piano. I encourage the composer to the pop music player, from the classical artist to the Broadway singer.

Hello my name is Nate. I have been playing guitar since my early teenage years, and I have always had a great passion for music. I have played guitar for two different bands and have also done solo and independent work on the guitar. I took guitar lessons for four years and I am currently at McHenry Country College working towards my associate's degree in fine arts and music. I have taught guitar for almost three years now and I am looking to expand my horizons! I am only twenty-one years old and I still remember what it feels like to be someone first starting out on guitar. I have worked with many different age groups and musical genre's when teaching, and I know that I can help you get to the skill level you hope to achieve on guitar.

I began playing guitar seven years ago and fell in love with it immediately. Since then, it has become a true passion of mine. Writing music, entertaining others, and having fun are just a few of the benefits I have gained from playing guitar and intend on passing on to all of my students. After just a year of playing, I already played in my first battle of the bands at school. Since then, I have played guitar for bands that have performed at WARP Skate Park, Just for Fun Roller Rink, Main Beach in Crystal Lake, and Penny Road Pub in Barrington. Currently, I am going to McHenry County College while reinforcing my knowledge of guitar, photography, and film.

I have been playing guitar for 28 years, starting with Rock/Blues before studying both Classical and Jazz guitar in college. I received my Bachelor of Music degree from Berklee College of Music in Boston in 1995. I've been playing drums as much as I can, for as long as I can! I started playing the drums when I was 10 years old and haven't stopped since. In high-school, I was in just about every ensemble and group my school had to offer. My senior year I was playing all the top ensembles; I was playing (and touring Europe) with the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra; and I also auditioned as the top player in the state, earning myself a spot as 1st Chair Percussion for the All-State Honors Orchestra. Basically I was the biggest band geek you'll ever meet!

After high school, I attended Boston University on a full ride for a degree in percussion performance. There I got to study with great performers, some with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, some with the New York Philharmonic, some with the San Francisco Symphony, some with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. My studies in piano date back to when I turned 9 years old and have been playing ever since. I have been classically trained but also studied an assortment of other styles such as Jazz and Blues. While In college I attained a degree in Music Education but also studied music composition in the hopes of becoming a more accomplished song writer. During my studies in college I have gained sufficient knowledge in understanding music theory and music analysis. This is a benefit I have found extremely helpful in teaching, especially with students who are learning advanced literature. I grew up in Palatine, IL and started piano when I was six years old. I earned my bachelor’s in music education at Illinois State University, graduating in 2008. At ISU, I accompanied 25 different instrumentalists and vocalists for their lessons, performances, and exams. I played in the jazz band and I played clarinet in the concert band and in the marching band, the Big Red Marching Machine. I also took private voice lessons and was a member of the Women’s Choir.
After graduating, I taught elementary music for three years. My first year of teaching was at St. Joseph Grade School, CCSD 169, in St. Joseph, IL. I taught kindergarten, first, third, and fourth grades, including an adaptive music class, a class catered to students with special needs. I came to music through the "back door", but I am in good company. Like many professional and some famous musicians, I am mostly self-taught. I did not study music in school. I got hooked during the "British invasion" and have been studying ever since. One thing I understand about teaching music is that it is a two-way street. More precisely, I have learned that teaching is one side of the coin, the other is learning. Teacher is student. What I mean is, we learn more about music together. You can go to your college and go to your school, and I have along the way, but you never stop learning about music. No wonder it is such a captivating pastime.

I am a classical pianist who is passionate about teaching and sharing music with others. I received a Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music. I am a well-rounded musician, having extensive experience in solo performance, accompaniment, chamber music, as well as prior experience in violin, all of which contribute to my knowledge of music and ability to teach.

I focus a lot on technique while teaching, gradually incorporating musicality and creativity as a student progresses. I am very attentive to details, adjusting lessons to a student's specific needs. Although I am classically trained, I like to expose students to other genres of music, letting students choose songs they want to play in addition to songs I assign. I want to make music enjoyable and challenging at the same time.

My name is Daniel. Composition is my major area of expertise and my major instruments are jazz piano and voice. I currently attend Vandercook College of Music due to the fact that it is a specialized school strictly devoted to music educators. Beyond its capacity for being used as entertainment, music aids in learning, helps develop advanced motor skills, increases memory function, and many other purposes for a well rounded education.
