Joe S. is a composer for media and concert music as well as an active performer around the LA area. He was born and raised in Santa Monica, California, where his musical family introduced him to the violin, his first instrument. His command of a diverse palette of styles and techniques can be attributed to playing several instruments, singing, and dabbling in many ensembles of different genres. Joe is currently in his last year at the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music at California State University, Long Beach and will shortly receive a degree in Music Composition. His music has been featured in films, jingles, animations, and more.
I picked up the fiddle a few years ago. It's much smaller than the bass, but utilizes many of the same principals in performance. I play with my youth orchestra - Santa Monica Youth Orchestra - every week and help the section sound more cohesive.
Once you start shifting a whole bunch, we'll get you off to a more experienced fiddle player.
"Music is the best!" --Frank Zappa That is the only thing I can claim to know for certain. My ideals as a teacher are sound control, fun, and community. I teach all of my students how to play their instrument in a manner which they understand and enjoy. I demonstrate how much fun music can be once my student has the facility to create sound freely. And I inspire them to use this gift for bringing people closer together. Since beginning my musical studies at California State University Northridge, I have been working as a musician in the greater Los Angeles area. Now over a decade later, I continue to perform and teach - enjoying the whole ride wherever it takes me. While my primary instruments are Contrabass and Electric Bass Guitar, I have technical know how on a wide ...
