For the past 14 years my guitar playing has been shaped by the study of different styles such as rock, jazz, classical, flamenco, Indian music, and Arabic music. This has allowed me to work in diverse groups, create my own original sound, and provide a well rounded education to my students. My study of music theory, composition, and music education gives my students a deeper study of music itself, complementing the study the guitar.

I have performed at multiple venues in New York City, including Carnegie Hall and Off-Broadway. I studied opera performance and musical theater at Westminster Choir College in Princeton, NJ and acting at Primary Stages. Along with these qualifications, my positive spirit and belief in my students has yielded outstanding results in their musical accomplishments.

My name is Andrew, and I have been teaching guitar lessons for six years. I am currently 28 years old. Over the years I have developed a very effective way of creating a fun and encouraging learning environment for my students. I have a great sensibility of popular music, and can help students with many different styles, from Rock, Metal, or Pop music, to Jazz and Classical studies. I have a lot of patience, which makes me a great choice for any young or beginning student.
I am also a professional Jazz guitarist, performing all over Queens, Brooklyn, Manhattan and Long Island. I was trained at Five Towns College where I received my B.A. in Jazz and Commercial Music.
My musical training has enabled me to teach all levels of guitar, from beginner to advanced, in almost any style.

Born in New York City and always surrounded by different music, Michael began studying at a very early age with the piano. Later on, he got serious with the upright and electric bass and got his degree from SUNY Purchase in jazz performance. At SUNY Purchase, Michael studied with some of the best teachers in New York such as Hal Galper, Todd Coolman, and Kermit Driscoll. He has a lot of experience as a performer in New York City as both a leader and a sideman in many different styles of music. His formal background is jazz but he can be seen regularly performing with pop, rock, hip hop, funk, and soul groups.

Ian is originally from a small town in western Connecticut. Basically, he's from the woods. By age 12 he was beginning to tackle his first serious instrument, the highland bagpipes. At 13, he started playing bass. By age 16, he knew he wanted to do this as a career.

Ian attended Berklee College Of Music, graduating in 2009 cum laude, having studied with John Lockwood, Oscar Stagnaro, Esperanza Spalding, and many other fine musicians. In 2010, he passed both the video and the in-person invite-only auditions for Cirque du Soleil. A couple of cruise ship contracts later, Ian wrote, recorded and produced his debut album (featuring Melissa Aldana, Juan Andres Ospina, and Devin Collins), and early 2012 saw him moving to New York City. He is now making a living slugging it out playing gigs and teaching. Plenty of new, amazing creative projects are in the works as Ian aims to take his career forward.

I have been playing guitar professionally since 1983 with such major label acts as White Trash (Elektra), who have recorded and toured extensively on the strength of their 1991 MTV hit, Apple Pie.
Currently I play with influential New York group Skeleton Key, who's latest album, 'Gravity is The Enemy" (Arctic Rodeo Recordings) has been included on ABC News Best Albums of 2012 list, coming in at Number Four. Skeleton Key has toured the world with such acts as Primus, The Melvins, Tomahawk, Girls vs. Boys, Cibo Matto, The Jesus Lizard, They Might Be Giants, Morphine, Braniac and many others.
My role as a teacher goes beyond just learning the notes, I can provide an accurate and realistic overview of the do's and don'ts; the trials and tribulations of life as a pro musician in the most important musical city in the world, New York.

I have spent my focus in my own study on performance for many years, while simultaneously developing my own personal teaching style. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Jazz Guitar Performance from the University of North Texas and I have performed in numerous states throughout the US (including a stint working in the showband for Princess Cruises). My unique way to connect with the student's musical needs comes from my emphasis on playing more than theory (at least initially) as I believe that while theory is essential, it should be a supplement, not the main course. Theory should follow practice, this seems to be the best formula for success on any instrument.

Born and raised in New York City, Matthew "Matt" is an accomplished and respected musician. I have been exposed to music since I can remember myself. My mom sent me to music appreciation class when I was four years old, I don't remember what we did there, but I guess it worked, I got hooked….
My first instrument was the xylophone when I was about 5 or 6, then I switched to piano at 8-10 and I picked up the guitar at the age of 13 and fell in love with it right away.
