I also have a B.A. Music degree with a concentration in classical guitar performance from Buffalo State College in my hometown of Buffalo, NY. However, most of my training and experience comes from playing many different styles of music with many brilliant musicians on the scenes of Buffalo and New York.
If there is just one thing I know about music, it is that playing music is supposed to be fun and satisfying! It is my job to help my students maintain that mindset as they navigate through the obstacles of musical growth. I am looking forward to teaching all of you, as well as learning from all of you myself. Now, lets make some ...

I'm Mike, and I'm thrilled to be part of the TakeLessons team. I first picked up the guitar at the age of 5, and have never looked back! I began formal Jazz training in high school and continued studying guitar and composition at Oberlin College and Wesleyan University. After graduating, I played Organ Trio and small combo jazz in LA, studied Brazilian and African percussion, and went to Japan to study Shamisen and Taiko drumming. I've been playing in various groups since arriving in NYC in 2005, and have recently been working on engineering and composing for film.
My strength lies in my versatility - I love music of all kinds. Whether it's Soul, Samba, or Salsa, Rock, Pop or Hip Hop, I am very good at communicating the mechanics of music so that my students not ...

I'm classically trained and write original compositions heard in film and TV, most recently Veronica Mars. We can learn to play your favorite songs by ear or explore music theory, improvisation and sight reading. We can also incorporate singing into the lesson if you'd like. I start lessons with warm up exercises to build agility and technique then we focus on what you want to learn.
I produce and record my own and others' music which can be heard extensively in film and TV, has been toured internationally, and received international press recognition. I play and teach several instruments and genres of music and take your tastes and learning style into utmost consideration. I always begin with practical exercises to develop technique, then we can focus on playing the music you love.
To vocal students I will teach exercises that develop technique and allows you to explore your voice. I will help you learn to make sounds you love. Singing is created by breath and muscles which we have full access to. Anyone can learn with proper focus, care and practice. I can also help you with recording and microphone technique as this is my area of expertise!
"Steven is very professional and extremely helpful. He always has a smile on and is serious about helping you phrase the music. I would highly recommend him to anyone."
