Personal Statement

As a music professional, I specialize in Voice (Contemporary Commercial Music) and in Piano (Classical). As a Vocologist, I also work with students to correct vocal fold injuries. I am certified by the New York Singer Teacher’s Association and the Somatic Voicework™/ The LoVetri Method. In addition, I am a City/State Teacher Certified in Music (K-12) and a member of NYSTA, NATS, and MEANYC.

I believe that progressive teaching must employ constructive pedagogical strategies to foster meaningful musical experiences for students to build and to exhibit competence. My pedagogical model is comprised of a student-centered approach to produce attainable challenges and to affect affirmative changes that will physically, technically, and emotionally enrich each student’s performance.

I'm a professional musician and teacher with over 20 years of experience.I feel that music is a beautiful thing in our world,magical at times and can be incredibly exciting,fun and rewarding.A universal language and a powerful tool, that can help us connect with ourselves and each other.
I always enjoy sharing my enthusiasm for music with students and help them discover what it can do for them.
I strongly feel that learning music at any level should be fun,and that the process of learning is most important and essentially the same as the end result.

For the past 14 years my guitar playing has been shaped by the study of different styles such as rock, jazz, classical, flamenco, Indian music, and Arabic music. This has allowed me to work in diverse groups, create my own original sound, and provide a well rounded education to my students. My study of music theory, composition, and music education gives my students a deeper study of music itself, complementing the study the guitar.

As a younger brother at the age of five, I began studying the piano because my older sister did. After my foundation in music strengthened I fell in love with the trumpet. At first, each note took time to develop and I enjoyed the challenge. The trumpet allowed me to travel all over the Southeast later in life and even to China with a 1940's Radio Show. I enjoyed many top-level bands the kindled my love and passion for good music. I want to share that kindling with my students in a nurturing and guiding situation, just like my teachers gave me.
I used to go to lessons and become so motivated and inspired that I thought I could change the world. I always knew that I would want to give back exactly that. I've been playing violin since age 11. However, from the age of 8 I was hooked on music. I graduated high school from Dr. Phillips which had a Performing Arts Magnet program which I was a part of. I was soloist with the Dr. Phillips Chamber Symphony when we took a trip to Atlanta, Georgia where I performed the Theme from " Schindler's List."

I then went on to pursue my Bachelor's degree from Stetson University in Deland, Florida. My teacher was Routa Kroumovitch-Gomez a Moscow Conservatory graduate and former student of David Oistrakh. While at Stetson I was awarded the William E. Duckwitz award. I was also awarded the Baron Gee String Scholarship that made me also a member of the school's official string quartet. With the Barron string quartet I performed throughout Florida, playing for students as well as concert members. My senior year I performed Vivaldi's "Summer" from the Four Seasons at the Stetson University Chamber Orchestra concert.

I am a certified teacher on teaching piano and have a college degree on music. I have taught from beginner to advance level for over 5 years and I am specialized on teaching young children starting at 4 years old teaching in piano and music theory.

Originally from Rome, Italy, Elisabetta immersed herself in musical and classical studies since an early age. I studied piano at the conservatory of music, university of the Philippines. While I was still studying I was already working as a pianist for a ballet school before working for Repertory Philippines. This is the pioneer theater company in Manila, where I started as rehearsal pianist, then band leader working up to musical director. This varied work background will help me expose my students to different type of music.

Roland R was born and raised in New York City. He started playing drums at the ripe age of 12. Throughout his schooling, Roland was a member of Concert Bands, Jazz Bands, and Drum Corps. He eventually started to explore playing music outside of school with friends and independent musicians around New York City. Roland's teaching "career" started about 7 years ago, when his baby cousins took an interest in banging on pots and pans with wooden spoons. His interest in helping others develop their ability to express themselves eventually evolved into in-studio lessons with children and adults of all skill levels. Roland has volunteered for non-profit organizations and college now programs in the past. Through his experiences, he's grown accustomed to speaking in front of large groups of students. I would not be the person I am today if music wasn't the focal point in my life as it is. Not only do I absolutely love performing and studying music myself, but I adore teaching as well. Part of the musical experience is taking what you hear and what you learn from others and building on it to create your own musical contributions. I take the gifts other teachers and musicians have given me very seriously and subsequently feel the great importance of imparting my knowledge unto others.

Whether you want to be a professional, or just be competent enough to enjoy yourself, we all practice, study technique and gain knowledge about music with really only one goal in mind: To have all the tools necessary to express ourselves adeptly through music. All the technique in the world will not make you a great musician. At the same time, you can be extremely creative and knowledgeable, but if you don't have the technique and vocabulary needed to express your ideas, you will find yourself...

I have taught as an Elementary Teacher for over 28 years. I taught in a public school in Queens, New York. I have a reputation of being patient and creative. I believe in teaching to benefit the student at his or her potential.
I attended Queens College and received my BS degree in Elementary and Early Childhood Education. I received my Masters degree also in Elementary and Early Childhood Education in 14 months. I have 45 credits above my Masters in Special Education, and art and music for children. As an undergraduate I took a beginning music education course for Elementary students.
In my numerous years as a teacher I produced and directed several plays. The performances had acting as well as musical and dance numbers. My performances were well received and highly acclaimed.
I love music and want to share this love and passion with my students.

Over the 20+ years experience of teaching, I find that each student has a unique musical personality. My goal is to bring it out. I have a Bachelor of Music and a Master of Arts in music therapy. I am passionate about piano teaching and piano music in all genre from Bach to Beatles!
