My 11 year old son says this teacher is awesome! Mr. Jacob is very patient and caring and makes the lessons fun. My son had a bad experience with his previous lesson teacher, but now he looks forward to his lessons, and is learning some useful tips.
I would recommend him. A good teacher can make all the difference.

Sarah loves piano lessons with Tammye because she is calm, funny and very "laid-back" in how she approaches children and teaching the piano. These qualities are gradually drawing Sarah back to an instrument that she loved initially but had withdrawn from due to very strict and almost frightening former teachers. I am so happy to see her loving the piano again and looking forward to her practices with Tammye. Thank you, Tammye, for encouraging and realizing that learning an instrument is a marathon for some and not a sprint!

Outstanding!

My daughter, Jolie, loves piano lessons with Tammye. She is always very excited to meet with her and recently more enthused about practicing. I strongly recommend Tammye for work with younger children.

Jay E. Dallas, TX

I've been teaching trumpet for 13 years and my students have gone on to be first chair in their school programs, be a member of the all state band, become members of the Greater Dallas Youth Winds, and advance to the state solo and ensemble contest. I specialize in classical and jazz and typically use the Getchell, Arban, Clarke, Rochut, and Voxman books. I expect daily practice from my students, as well as a strong desire to make music. I love working with students of all ages and experience levels and I can't wait to meet you!

About Jay

I am a professional trumpet player living in Dallas. In addition to teaching, I perform regularly with groups such as the Lone Star Wind Orchestra and at Lone Star Park at Grand Prairie.

*** Lesson Details ***
I primarily teach trumpet and horn, but also beginning and intermediate level piano. I assign music appropriate for the individual student, and not necessarily music "assigned" by band director. My students are expected to practice a minimum of 200 minutes each week.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Clavinova keyboard with weighted keys

*** Travel Equipment ***
I provide no equipment

*** Specialties ***
I specialize in classical, jazz, and commercial, having experience in all three areas. I teach a lot of ear training and music theory regardless of the instrument.

Jonathan M. Argyle, TX

About Jonathan

Music is what I breathe every day of my life! I grew up in Oklahoma in an average-sized city. Starting in 1st grade I pursued taking private piano lessons. Unlike most kids, I continued classical piano study throughout middle school and high school. In 2nd grade, the year after starting piano lessons, I pursued taking private trumpet lessons with the trumpet professor at the university in my city. Around age 9 I started private drum-set lessons, and age 14 picked up the acoustic guitar later followed by electric guitar. I just wanted to play ALL the instruments. After my 2nd year of high school, I decided to pursue independent study with an online accredited school, mainly for the reason of greater personal music study through the university. My trumpet professor asked if I’d like ...

Music Theory
Exceptional teacher

I am an older non-musician in a household full of multi-talented musicians. I finally decided that I needed to at least receive some education in music performance and music theory just to keep up with my family. Jonathan has been the perfect instuctor for that! Not only has he explained the concepts of music theory in a logical and easy to understand way - he has made it challenging and exciting! I have begun trumpet lessons and I am progressing far faster than I thought possible. What a great instructor! I no longer consider myself a "non-musician."

Outstanding

I'm a trumpet beginner. I've tried taking lessons before but really went nowhere and it was a horrible experience. Jonathan has been very patient as he has moved me quickly and effectively through the basics of trumpet to where I now have a sense of pride in what I can do! I almost didn't give him a try but his experience and friendly picture convinced me to try it again. I'm so glad I did! I can't recommend this instructor more highly!

Great experience as a beginner

Jonathan is doing a great job teaching me from no knowledge at all. He's given me great exercises to increase my playing ability and is very patient when I don't understand or can't figure out how to play the notes.
