What's the difference between a violin and a fiddle? The answer is that they are the same instrument. A violin can be considered a fiddle and vice versa. What distinguishes the two are how the fiddle is played and in what genre. The instrument is called it's proper more formal name (violin) in classical / orhcestra settings while being referred to as a Fiddle in other styles such as cajun fiddle, irish celtic fiddle, bluegrass fiddle, and the Irish fiddle. The fiddle has more emphasis on a free-flow style while violin is more structured and exact. Fiddle lessons from an experienced fiddle player will get you started on the right path as you learn how to play fiddle, how to read fiddle tabs and tablature, fiddle chords, and how to tune your fiddle. If you are looking to purchase a fiddle, you may also check with your fiddle teacher on beginner fiddle packages.

Also I wanted to know where I can purchase a second hand fiddle- or do I have to have my own fiddle for class?
