No need to be nervous before my lessons. My lessons have a comfortable atmosphere where students can be okay with learning with mistakes; through trial and error. I always keep a light mood with quick bits of humor. I teach in a relaxing way, but at the same time you may expect to leave with new musical knowledge every lesson. I enjoy showing the connections between music and other areas of study and life. I always finds ways to work a student's personal interests into lessons. I always strive to help students learn how to practice in an efficient and organized way.
I am a published composer and active performer/teacher/conductor with a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education and a Master's Degree in Conducting!
From classical to pop, good singing is about understanding your instrument and exploring your "bag of tricks". In a fun, creative exercise of self-discovery, singing becomes a life-long pleasure.
I am a life-long singer and a life-long learner, and I want to help you discover the joy of having music in your life! I was 7 years old when I started singing in our church choir, learning to read music as I practiced with the grown-ups every week. In high school, I sang in the choir and in musicals. In college, I majored in Music/Voice Performance and prepared for my senior recital. After earning my BA and graduating Phi Beta Kappa, I worked with youth camps and community theater and church choirs. I began substitute teaching for grades K-8 when my youngest child started school and was thrilled to step in for band lessons and general music classes along with general class curriculum. My 4 kids were in bands and choirs and musicals, and I loved coaching their auditions and solo spots ...

I started teaching voice three years ago, and though I haven't taken on many students in the past, I am very excited to begin really establishing myself as a vocal teacher. I would be able to offer a classical student an in-depth training; If they chose to continue on to the professional level, I would be able to recommend them to a very capable instructor. As a professional non-classical artist, I'm also prepared to teach musical theater, jazz, folk and rock vocals, as my students prefer.
I was born in Chicago, and have been living in Milwaukee for the past year while finishing a degree in Music History at UW-Milwaukee. I studied piano for fourteen years and have recently resumed study for the purpose of my degree, and I am fluent in both fundamental classical and jazz piano. I studied voice at the high school and college level, have been in a number of professional performing choirs, and was recently an ensemble member in UW-Milwaukee and Milwaukee Opera Theatre's production of L'Enfant et Les Sortileges. I am well-versed in music theory, as its study is part of my degree. I also have a solid musical theater background, both as an actress and an accompanist. Outside of school, I perform in the Milwaukee Irish traditional music circuit, and am an independent ...
