A dedicated teacher and professional singer, Katherine recently moved to New York City and has already begun appearing on stage in several professional engagements. A graduate of UC Berkeley and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, she holds a Master of Music degree in vocal performance and is a fellow of the American-Scandinavian Foundation and The Hertz Traveling Fellowship of UC Berkley. Katherine has taught students in subjects ranging from SAT prep to vocal performance, and currently works with students at The Juilliard School in writing, helping students learn to present a professional performer's persona. I have always loved music, and grew up with a very musical family.

Through choral experiences and involvement in Musicals (as well as band and orchestra) in High School, I realized that I wanted to follow in my family's footsteps, and became a professional musician and teacher myself!

After completing BM and MM studies (Ithaca College & Manhattan School of Music), I performed exclusively for some time. Performing across the US and abroad has given me great perspective, and a variety of musical experiences.

Some professional highlights include singing for the Philadelphia Phillies, participation in a major network TV singing competition, membership in AGMA & Equity through many performances, and sharing the stage with some of the most well respected names in the music business. I fell in love with teaching music while a student myself! I am an alumnus of the University of Michigan, where I received a Masters of Music in 2007, and a Bachelors of Music in 2006. I am an experienced professional opera singer who enjoys all styles of singing. Having professionally performed everything from opera to beat-boxing (it's true!), I can teach all styles. I have taught as an Elementary Teacher for over 28 years. I taught in a public school in Queens, New York. I have a reputation of being patient and creative. I believe in teaching to benefit the student at his or her potential.
I attended Queens College and received my BS degree in Elementary and Early Childhood Education. I received my Masters degree also in Elementary and Early Childhood Education in 14 months. I have 45 credits above my Masters in Special Education, and art and music for children. As an undergraduate I took a beginning music education course for Elementary students.

I made my Broadway debut with the original cast of Disney & Cameron Mackintosh’s hit musical Mary Poppins and became Broadway's second Mary, flying over the heads and into the hearts of Broadway audiences for over 100 performances.  I left that production to join the original cast of the highly acclaimed Broadway revival of Ragtime.  

I continue to cross the country representing Walt Disney Productions in national concert appearances. I have also has appeared on The Today Show, The View, the 2007 Tony Awards Show, and the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. I have been teaching guitar for over a decade and love doing it. Before we get into how you can succeed as a guitarist here is a little background about me. I grew up in a small town and began playing guitar at age 12. I was taught a few chords from friends and tried to learn songs from tabs on the Internet. After a couple years I realized the need for formal training, so I began taking classical guitar lessons. I was introduced to formal music instruction and my abilities really blossomed.
