*** Lesson Details ***
Being a musician is exciting, challenging, and of course, rewarding. Musicians are communicators; instruments of expression. I'm a firm believer in diligent practice habits and learning the fundamentals of one's craft. From there, the music can happen.

I offer a relaxed, comfortable learning environment that is both fun and productive. A stuffy, tense atmosphere promotes timidness, and insecurity, the opposite of the environment I foster in my studio.

Whether you're a beginner with a passion, or a professional looking to fine tune your proficiency, I can help you get to where you want to be. Diligent, concise, uncomplicated, and fun! That's how I teach.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Various keyboards, full 5 piece drum set, full production and recording facility, music scores/sheet music

*** Specialties ***
Classically trained vocalist, but can teach all styles and genres of voice. Recording engineer & producer. Versed in many styles of composition. Session drummer.

About Me

Hello all. I have been teaching for about 10 years now. I have degrees from two universities, one for jazz performance and one for classical performance. I have played in multiple bands throughout my life ranging in styles from punk rock all the way to straight ahead jazz. If you choose me for lessons, we will work on developing your musical vocabulary, learning to read music, hand exercises, chordal structures, scales, tablature and so much more. I have a love for music like none other and a passion to share that with my students.

*** Lesson Details ***
A typical lesson with me would start with some warm-up exercises. I then like to move on to any book material you may have had for that week. We will also work on chords and scales to use accordingly with any songs you're learning. Often we'll work on a popular song that you may want to learn. Also for the intermediate to advanced student there may be some music theory and aural skills training. Overall I tailor the lesson to the individual. I am thorough in my techniques. I also possess a great patience and will work with you on whatever you may be having trouble with until you and I both feel comfortable. You can expect rapid development with me. I promise I'll have you playing well in a short time.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I provide guitar, pencil, tuner, manuscript paper, etc. They need an instrument, music stand, tuner, metronome, book.

*** Specialties ***
I am well versed in ear training, music notation, tablature, and chord recognition. I have taught all age groups and all styles of music and feel confident in my ability to relate well to any material.

About Me

www.malorieleogrande.com

The voice is the unexplainable language of the spirit, expressed through sound. To uncover the artistry and texture of the singer, one must probe into the inner spirit. My approach is holistic, meditative, and spiritual. Connectedness between the mind and body is essential. I can help singers of all levels find or fine-tune their voices.

Since I'm a working singer, I have the on-the-job experience necessary to help my students excel in pursuit of their musical goals. I cater each lesson to the needs and personalities of my students, because all students learn differently.

I expect that the student provides the necessary materials like lyrics, a recording device, and a pencil and paper.

Subjects Taught

Bass Guitar, Classical Guitar, Drum, Flute, Guitar, Music Performance, Music Recording, Music Theory, Piano, Songwriting, Speaking Voice

About Me

Hi! My name is Barry and I have been teaching for over 10 years in the Fairfield County, CT area. I have had success teaching all ages, styles and abilities, from the most gifted to the physically impaired. I grew up listening to a tremendously wide range of music, and have studied classical flute, rock, jazz and classical guitar, and even the japanese shakuhachi, with some of the great minds of the instruments. I graduated high honors from Queens College with a Masters' in composition, and have had works performed by major acts in the contemporary classical scene. In jazz, I have shared the stage and recording studio with the likes of Marc Ribot and William Parker; I have quite a bit of experience as a performer that I bring to my teaching. My passion for music is addictive; I have turned the least motivated students into consummate music lovers. My goal is to find a student's personal musical voice so they have the opportunity to discover where THEIR musical passion lies. Whether it be country, rock and roll, or classical, the long term goal is to both teach the student what they love, as well as expand their musical horizons to discover things they may never have thought they would love.

*** Lesson Details ***
I teach in a fairly laid back style with an emphasis on technique, theory making the most of your practice time. Starting with a set curriculum, the material moves into more student chosen songs as the lessons progress. The idea is to communicate the connections between music with the goal of expanding the students ear and teaching them to listen; not just in music but in every aspect of life.

*** Studio Equipment ***
room in basement piano, drumset, mixer seating for parents

*** Travel Equipment ***
Students should have their own instruments and amplification for electric guitar, music stand and place to take lessons in their home. If they don't, I am knowledgeable of the local music stores and can recommend places to either buy or rent instruments. I provide practice sheets and curriculum.

*** Specialties ***
In general, for each instrument I teach I have a cirriculum for the primer/beginning level. Once that level is reached, the direction becomes more student driven; that is if the student responds to classical music (for instance), we will focus on that. As the students interests change, the lesson development changes and the student grows as a musician. That being said, I am primarily a classical pianist, and a jazz/rock guitarist/drummer. While I am a classically trained flautist, much of my gigging and recording experience is with rock bands.

About Me

Having studied with some fantastic teachers has been a true joy. I did also hone my craft whereby I sought a voice coach,a very different thing altogether. They do the fine tuning and every so often I do to this day go to a wonderful coach in NYC. I would also like to mention that quite earlier on I did study under the tutelage of Helen Yorke. She was a concert pianist for the renowned soprano Renee Fleming. How I discovered Helen I can't recall. By my early thirties I had derived incredible amounts of vocal knowledge. Performing on stage is like nothing else I have ever done before and it helped enormously to create desperately needed exposure...High school launched me into music performance where I immersed myself in all kinds of special choirs contingent upon a rigorous audition. NYSSMA was the organization which funded these extra-curricular choirs. Finally the spark was ignited. As I mentioned I have had the fortune to have studied under the so called creme de la creme when it came to voice teachers. All were situated on the west side of Manhattan. There is a veritable mecca of voice teachers and coaches all clustered in that particular area...that is just the way it was and still is today. Anyway, I was also lucky to have had the privilege of studying amongst opera instructors on the roster of the Juilliaird faculty as well; in essence a culmination of the mediocre to the exceptional.. Despite it all I learned and I developed what I believe to be a flawless technique which to this day allows me the ability to avail all other emotions that must come into play for an effective result. I have performed in NYC at an outdoor bandshell; a part of Central Park known as Damrosche Park; coincidentally also a stones throw away from Lincoln Center as well as other regional opera companies.

> Now a bit about me. I have had an extensive teaching background in voice instruction. I teach all genres of music whether it be opera, rock, pop, country, off-Broadway, Broadway or cabaret If someone just wants to sing solely for fun as a hobby or even go pro eventually with enormous patience and diligence they just might make the cut. Dreams can come true. All I ask is whatever you love to sing please bring the music the day of your first lesson. I can let you know what to expect when it comes to the competition as I have performed on the operatic stage and I will prepare you to audition with confidence and conviction. Once you develop your "own" technique the rest is easy, you'll see as we go along. I look forward to meeting you very soon. Thank you.

*** Specialties ***
My true specialty is and has always been opera. I say that because I have been given a very fundamental technique which carries me a long way. I have been teaching for over fifteen years and am confident and show expertise in the way in which I approach each student as an individual. Some students show more promise than some other might, initially however this does not mean that he or she can't learn. I teach you, the student never to give up on themselves. Since I have performed I show them what to expect and to compete with no-one but themselves.
