I have over 15 years experience teaching voice, music theory, and sight reading privately; directing musical ensembles; and performing professionally in OPERA, MUSICAL THEATRE and MANY other styles of music.

I started guitar at age 12 inspired by the Beatles,moved it into the garage for several years and moved up. I studied with a few great teachers including Pat Martino. I got heavy full time into teaching and playing at 25. Music is my life. I have had students in signed bands and I have one now who is touring the world with the Michael Jackson Immortal Tour. I love to help people learn to play and send them towards their dream. I played Dickey Betts for 4 years. I now play with Jaimoe, a founding member of the Allman Brothers Band. We have been together playing for 22 years. I can help a beginner start on the bass or guitar. I can also help someone who has been playing how to sharpen their game,improve their skills and expand their musical boundaries.

I've been playing piano & drums for 35 years and am currently playing professionally in the Hartford CT area. I am also skilled in playing guitar and bass, as well as having experience with theory, ear training, composition & recording.
I went to college at The Hartt School in West Hartford Connecticut where I studied studied classical percussion performance & piano.
While at Hartt, I studied classical percussion, ear training & jazz drumming with renowned tympanist and educator Alexander Lepak, co-author of the world-famous Friese-Lepak Timpani Method. I studied classical, jazz and rock percussion with Gene Bozzi, Principal Timpanist in the Hartford Symphony Orchestra. I also studied with composer and percussionist Michael LaRosa, jazz piano and theory with Ray Cassarino, onetime member of Woody Herman's band.
My professional teaching & performance experience includes a variety of musical genres. I was Orchestra Director at Mercy High School in Middletown CT & Assistant Music Director at The Hartford Stage Company Youth Theater. I have many years experience teaching percussion and piano in the Greater Hartford Area including at Morey Music in Vernon CT, and The Music Barn in East Windsor CT. I have also composed music for various Musicals, radio commercials, websites, videos, Facebook games, and more.
Throughout my musical career, I was the recipient of many honors including the Randy Ramendetta Musical Scholarship, as well as the John Philip Sousa Award for superior musicianship.
I was a founding member and drummer for the popular Hartford band The Commuters. Additionally, I have performed in numerous classical, jazz, and rock groups in the area, including The Hartt Symphony Orchestra, The Manchester Symphony, Willimantic Orchestra, IRN, Mark Twain Masquers, Valley Swing Shift Big Band, The Core, Fazz Junk, Blue Moon, Signature, Babyshake, Xstatic, and Kings Highway.

I have performed with the Juilliard Orchestra, the U.S. Coast Guard Band, and International Opera Theater. As tenor saxophonist in the Ineo Quartet, I received honors in the J.C. Arriaga, Music Teachers National Association (MTNA), and North American Saxophone Alliance (NASA) chamber music competitions. I currently perform with the Asylum Quartet, playing repertoire spanning classical, jazz, klezmer, and indie/electronic music, including many of my own arrangements. I hold a Master's in Music from The Hartt School where I studied with Carrie Koffman, and a Bachelor of Music summa cum laude from Arizona State University (ASU), where I studied with Dr. Timothy McAllister.
I have six years of private teaching experience, including in the USC Thornton Outreach program in Los Angeles, the Renbrook School in West Hartford, and Corner Music in Old Saybrook. Additionally, I completed a ten-week private teaching mentorship at the Hartt Community Division with saxophone instructor Sheri Brown.
Though I specialize in saxophone, I also love teaching beginning and intermediate piano.

Guitarist Brian H. studied at The Hartford Conservatory and the Hartt School of Music, graduating at the top of his class with honors from The Hartford Conservatory. Brian has been a guitar and bass instructor at Choate Rosemary Hall since 1999. Brian also teaches at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, The Music Shop in Southington, and is the owner of Guitar Star Studio, located in Glastonbury, CT. In the past, he taught at The Hartford Conservatory and Riccardo’s Music in East Hartford. He has performed in many bands with diverse styles of music. As a past member of the John Jeski band for 13 years, he was a voting member of the Grammy Awards. Brian has had 25 years experience playing in rock/pop bands, and currently performs classic rock to today’s rock with Enny Corner. With his current Contemporary Christian Band, eXaudio, he has released three albums. He has had the opportunity to perform several times at the Oakdale Theater, the Rock Cats Stadium, and has also done a number of radio and television interviews. Brian has provided liturgical music for many years in CT; also, in Sicily and Rome. Mr. H is a patient, enthusiastic teacher who enjoys helping his students master the art of guitar.

Rachel holds a Master of Music, M.M. in Vocal Performance from the University of Northern Colorado and a Bachelor of Music, B.M., from San Jose State University. She recently re-located from St. Louis, Missouri to the Hartford area. While in Missouri, she served as an Adjunct Voice Instructor/Lecture Professor at East Central College, a Private Voice and Music Instructor at St. John's School of the Arts and opened a private voice studio through Takelessons.com. In addition to her teaching experience in the Missouri area, Rachel was a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Northern Colorado where she was an assistant instructor for Music Survey and Music and World Cultures classes. She also privately tutored students in Music Theory, Music History, Vocal Diction and Sight-Singing.
Rachel is an active performer of opera, oratorio, musical theater, chamber and choral music. Most recently, she was featured as a Young Artist with Winter Opera St. Louis. During the 2012 season, she performed the role of Echo in Ariadne auf Naxos, was a featured soloist and member of the ensemble in the Rogers and Hammerstein Broadway Review: A Grand Night for Singing, covered Musetta in La Boheme with Winter Opera St. Louis and performed opera scenes from Die Zauberflote and Der Rosenkavalier with the Druid City Opera Workshop in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Rachel also appeared as the soprano soloist in Vivaldi's Gloria with the Southeast Missouri Chamber Ensemble and as the Widow in Mendelssohn's Elijah with the East Central Choral Association. In 2011, she had the pleasure of covering Lola and appearing in the chorus of Cavalleria Rusticana with both Winter Opera St. Louis in March and during the reprise of the production at the Southern Illinois Music Festival in June. She also sang in the chorus of La Traviata with Winter Opera St. Louis and performed as principal soprano with the internationally recognized St. Louis Symphony Chorus. While a member of the St. Louis Symphony Chorus, Rachel sung under the baton of such esteemed conductors as David Robertson, Claudio Abbado, Robert Spano and Nicolas McGegan.
While completing her Master of Music at the University of Northern Colorado, Rachel was seen as Gretel in Hansel and Gretel at the Union Colony Civic Center, Fanny in Rossini's La Cambiale di Matrimonio, Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro in concert with the UNC Symphony and Beauty in Richard Faith's opera Beauty and the Beast in which she had the pleasure of personally working with the composer. After her graduation from UNC, she performed the roles of Giannetta in L'Elisir d'Amore with Loveland Opera Theater, The Lady Ella in Patience with the Victorian Lyric Opera Company and sang as a soloist for numerous concert engagements with the Greeley Chorale.
During the summer of 2007, Rachel was selected to be a touring artist with Opera Classica Europa based in Bad Schwalbach, Germany. During her travels with the company she sang in the chorus of Otello, Madame Butterfly, Tosca and as a soloist in multiple concerts and masterclasses throughout Germany and Spain. Rachel has also performed with Union Avenue Opera, Opera Fort Collins, the Opera Fort Collins Guild Arias@Avos Young Artists Concert Series, Trinity Lyric Opera, Townsend Opera Players, the Songfest Young Artists Program in Malibu, California and the Johanna Meier Opera Theater Institute in Spearfish, South Dakota.
Rachel has been a recipient of the Bev Sellars Young Singer Foundation Memorial Scholarship, Joe Tennsessen PVA Scholarship, Mu Phi Epsilon Scholarship, a four time recipient of the Manlio Silva Young Artists Scholarship awarded by the Stockton Symphony, a finalist in the Angie Southard Chamber Music Competition and was a winner of both the Kristina Townsend Memorial Vocal Competition and the Stockton Opera Guild Vocal Competition, respectively.
