Paul is a guitarist/songwriter/educator from Branford, CT. He began playing the guitar at age 13 with a strong background in piano. He performed and recorded with bands in high school, during which time he was influenced by a wide variety of musical artists and styles, including Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Pink Floyd.
Paul enrolled at Boston's Berklee College of Music in the fall of 1994 and discovered a love for jazz, particularly guitarists such as Joe Pass and Tal Farlow and arrangers Nelson Riddle and Gil Evans. At Berklee, Paul continued to study the guitar while working toward a Bachelor of Music degree in Contemporary Writing and Production, which he received in 1998.
After graduating, Paul remained in Boston for several years performing and teaching private guitar lessons. He developed a hands-on, practical instruction method that teaches music fundamentals, theory and improvisation through playing and analyzing popular songs. Now back in Connecticut, he continues to teach privately in Branford and the surrounding area. He also performs regularly with his bands, The Syndicate and Debacle on the shoreline and in New York City.

My name is Doug and I have been teaching professionally either in the public school systems of Connecticut or privately for over 22 years. I possess a Master’s Degree in Liberal studies from Albertus Magnus College and a Bachelor’s degree in Music from Western Connecticut State University. I own and operate a private teaching studio in Connecticut which has been in business since 2005. Along with teaching I am also a professional musician and have been since the age of 13. I have gigged and recorded professionally in and around the tri-state area for numerous years.Music is and has always been my only form of income,so teaching and playing is much more than just a hobby to me it is my life and my livlihood. When a student chooses me as his/her instructor they can feel confident that they are learning the instrument correctly and that they will be benefiting from many years of schooling and independent study with some of the industries most esteemed and trusted instructors/musicians.

PAMELA has been teaching piano since the age of 15, and then after her graduation with honors in piano performance from the State University College at Fredonia, NY, where she studied with Distinguished Artist-in-Residence, acclaimed author, concert pianist and recording artist, the late Claudette Sorel. Pamela's many successful students have studied with her privately and also at Manhattan's St. Hilda's & St. Hugh's Independent School near Columbia University as well as the Lyceum Kennedy French School on East 43rd St. Her solo repertoire is large and varied, and she encourages her students to explore new music as well as the standard literature. Pamela balances her instinct for evoking the the student's trust and desire to learn with the requisite task of cultivating disciplined practice habits. Her more advanced protégés' consistent growth in technical skill, interpretation, and musicianship emanate naturally from her guidance, inspiration and tutelage. Pamela brings her extensive professional music background to bear as a piano instructor whose special gift for working with children and young adults is impressive and unique. She is a dedicated mentor, displaying care and patience with the young beginner, as well as a passion for imbuing her students with the love of music and the joy of learning to play the piano.

Singing and playing piano have always been a huge part of my life. I love to perform everything from opera and sacred music to music theater and jazz, and have been performing since I was very young. I earned my Bachelor’s of Music in Vocal performance DePaul University School of Music in Chicago. It was there that I fell in love with teaching, when I taught my first student as part of a course in vocal pedagogy. I have had several excellent and truly inspiring teachers myself with different teaching styles, and so I have a variety of approaches to drawn upon in helping my own students. Vocal technique was not something that came easy for me, and was something I had to really work on. This work on technique has made me a stronger teacher. I know how many different approaches it can take to make something click, so I use the diverse experiences of my own studies to find what works best for that student now. While I am classically trained, I am comfortable teaching all types of singers, because I believe that at its core, what makes a singer great is the same between all genres. My number one goal in teaching is to help my students use their voice in a way that is healthy and allows them the greatest ability for expression, because ultimately, I believe that is what music is about.
I am an active performer and am able to draw upon this experience in my teaching. Most recently, I sang Zerlina in Mozart's Don Giovanni with Connecticut Lyric Opera. Other roles include April in Company with Westport Community Theatre, Despina (cover) in Mozart's Cosě fan tutte for Connecticut Lyric Opera, the messenger in Monteverdi's L'Orfeo at DePaul University, and Maria in West Side Story with the McLeod Summer Playhouse. I have a special love for early music and have performed oratorio by Bach with the DePaul Baroque Ensemble and as part of the Bethesda Music Series in New Haven. I have performed abroad in Austria and Italy, and speak French, Italian, and some German. Because of my experience on stage in opera , music theatre, and recitals, I understand the skills it takes to engage an audience and create a well-rounded performance. I am thus an asset to any student preparing for a contest, audition, or stage appearance. I love helping my students find their unique "voice" through the music in a way that they and others can relate to. Although singing has been my focus in the past few years, I have also been playing classical piano since I was four and still love to play and share this love with my students.

STUDYING WITH ME:
Learning guitar should be interesting and fun! While we're studying all the different aspects of the instrument, you'll also be learning how to play your favorite songs and solos! I approach each student as an individual and structure their lessons according to what I determine they need, as well as what they are interested in musically. I concentrate on many different areas; ear training, theory, playing technique, improvisation, various styles of music, and, the physics of the guitar. Understanding how the instrument works is important in my opinion. My long term goal is to teach a student how they can teach themselves down the line. Understanding why you’re playing something is just important as knowing how to play it. I aim to give a student rich and well rounded one-on-one time!
I have been teaching and performing for over a decade both in the US, and in England. I have played in various bands and have produced independent artists. I have worked for a recording studio and for various academic institutions including the Filomen M. D'Agostino Greenberg Music School in New York city.
I obtained my degree from Purchase College in New York and am a member of their Conservatory of Music.

Roland R was born and raised in New York City. He started playing drums at the ripe age of 12. Throughout his schooling, Roland was a member of Concert Bands, Jazz Bands, and Drum Corps. He eventually started to explore playing music outside of school with friends and independent musicians around New York City. Roland's teaching "career" started about 7 years ago, when his baby cousins took an interest in banging on pots and pans with wooden spoons. His interest in helping others develop their ability to express themselves eventually evolved into in-studio lessons with children and adults of all skill levels. Roland has volunteered for non-profit organizations and college now programs in the past. Through his experiences, he's grown accustomed to speaking in front of large groups of students. Whether or not it's a large group or just a 1 on 1 session, patience and tolerance is the key when working with a student. He fully understands the difficulty of training one's mind to do things that seem unnatural. Like playing drum set for instance.
Nevertheless, Roland is adamant about the idea that one's progress is dependent on how much work you put into it. Practice makes perfect! So, Roland cherishes the feeling when he sees that a student(s) is genuinely putting in the effort to practice and/or hone his creative interests.
