Alexandra P. Princeton, NJ

A broader, more generalized way of saying that I teach a variety of singing techniques: classical, musical theater, pop, folk, etc. My main interest is to help YOU with what you're interested in however I can.

About Alexandra

I am interested in teaching private lessons to each individual student - taking into account your goals, strengths, weaknesses, and background. I will never teach by a method that does not account for the unique qualities of each student. I use what I have learned through many years of musical study to teach you in the most efficient and beneficial way, based on YOUR needs.

As a voice student, I will ask you about your taste in music, what your goals are as a singer, and encourage you to suggest repertoire you'd like to learn. In addition, I will do an assessment of your entire voice - from posture and breathing to articulation and expression - and introduce repertoire that will help you become a better singer. I am comfortable teaching pieces written in English, Latin, ...

great teacher

I've never taken voice lessons before, so I didn't know what to expect. But Allie is great, very likeable. She really takes your preferences into considerations. We do breathing exercises, vocal warmups, and work on several songs at a time. I love the range of songs Allie has me work on: an Italian classical piece, a French pop song, a Broadway piece, a jazz piece, etc.

I have 30 years experience teaching singing of every genre of music except for the opera! Jazz/pop/rock/musical theater....
My method is innovative and results in quickly getting students to sing their best. Coming from a pro music background, I provide career guidance and opportunities for singers to perform in front of audiences. My former students are signed artists, rock stars and singers who have appeared on Broadway, as well as winners of competitions, i.e. Idol shows.

About Rosemary

I have 30 yrs teaching experience PLUS the added expertise of being a performing pro singer! My students are signed recording artists AND people just starting out. I have taught in colleges and privately with an emphasis on pop/jazz/blues/rock/musical theater singing. I teach in such a way that students have told me they learn more in one lesson with me than in years of study somewhere else! You will not do needless voice exercises. We will use songs you like as teaching tools, giving you the opportunity to also expand your repertoire. My lessons are interesting and fun! Taking lessons from someone who has been and is a real actively performing teacher makes all the difference in how well and how quickly you will get your act together! :-)

In high school I was featured as a soloist every academic year in my choral department, I participated in the Region II Chorus of NJ, as well as NJ All State Choir, experienced Barber Shop singer and coach, various local community theater productions, featured as a soloist for an annual Edison High School fundraiser, which I subsequently directed, a featured back up singer in the Bryan Hansen Band, and am frequently hired for studio session work.

About Justin

Can you rely on your voice to always be there for you? After singing, does your throat hurt? Do you want to learn how to belt? Can you let it rip when no one’s watching but you choke up when you step in front of a microphone? Do you want to learn vocal technique that just works?

We welcome all levels of experience and styles of voice. Become the singer you were meant to be

“Justin is so much fun to work with and always makes me feel good about performing, even when I get discouraged. He has helped me to discover a side of my voice that I didn't even know I had.”

I went to Rutgers: Mason Gross School of the Arts for Vocal Performance as a freshman in Fall 2008; by the Spring of 2009, I was no longer a music student. Singing quickly became a laborious activity instead of an enjoyable past time; I felt as if I became incapable of adequately expressing myself because I was bogged down by a pretentious atmosphere and a teacher who lacked any sort of gravitational pull. Justin is the complete opposite.

I started studying with Justin in September 2013. He's so incredibly realistic. He lacks any form of pretense and his personality is so magnetic. Every time I walk into my lesson, I'm ready to go. He creates an atmosphere that is just so easy to adjust to, and he listens. I'm so grateful to have found him. In a little less than a year, he's helped me restore confidence in my vocal ability and gain back years of lost discipline in such a short time. He will hold you accountable without alienating you and for me that's invaluable. If you're looking for someone warm, but disciplined, Justin is your guy.

Working with Justin has helped me make enormous strides musically! Our lessons have transformed my voice, prepared me for the competitive world of singing, and given me the confidence and knowledge needed to succeed. In just one or two lessons I progressed in ways I never thought I could and opened up to different techniques that I did not even know existed. Justin is fun and easy to work with. His encouragement and spirit will push you to reach new heights and truly refine your vocal technique.

Since I started with Justin, I feel that my voice has become stronger and it still continues to grow! I would recommend Justin to anyone for vocal instruction. Jimmy is the best vocal teacher around. I call him my vocal coach because his teaching is more like coaching. He allows you to develop at your own pace. He does not rush you. His patience and diligence to help you develop your abilities as a singer demonstrates how much he cares for you to be your very best in a short period of time. His recording studio is state of the art in that you feel you are a professional singer recording your music. He is the best out there!

I've had lessons with Jimmy for a year. I didn't talk with him as much during our lessons in the beginning but soon, I was able to laugh and really start talking with him. As a teacher, Jimmy makes sure that you're comfortable learning with him from day 1. He slowly eases into the learning of music theory and how the guitar works. He makes sure that you stay interested while learning what's necessary about music. You can tell that he has a enormous passion for music, that he's even made mine evolve to the point where not only am I learning how to play the guitar, but singing as well! Having learned from him, I was able to stay relaxed and comfortable. He makes sure to understand the way you learn and uses it to help drive your passion to the right direction. Learning from him was one of the best choices I've made. And choosing him as your teacher will be one of the greatest experiences you'll have!

My 9 year old daughter has been taking lessons with Jimmy for about six months. She has learned a lot about the guitar in general, as well as music as a whole, and I love to hear her strumming away in her bedroom. Jimmy is a patient and kind teacher, he's very good with kids and my daughter looks forward to her lessons with him all week. I am astounded by how much she's learned in just six short months.

Just Sing! As a performer myself, I know how challenging it can be to get out of your head, stop thinking and let loose. I am here to challenge your instincts and develop your own fully energized, open and supported sound. We will explore topics like body alignment, tension, breath coordination, and registration to expand your versatility and stamina as a singer.

About Zach

As a teaching artist, my goal is to reinforce a healthy structure to your voice while expanding your capacities as an actor and performer by letting the complete singing actor emerge. I wish for my work in the studio to be accessible even when you are practicing on your own. I hope to empower each student to become self-sufficient on a personal level, understanding that each individual grows from different methods to find that perfect balance of artistic and technical instruction.

I recently spent the summer in Pittsburgh performing in four Pittsburgh CLO shows appearing as The Production Tenor in Singin’ in the Rain and Garvin in Footloose. Before this, I spent my previous two summers performing at MT Wichita and Connecticut Repertory Theatre, all of which has taught me what it ...
