Lori holds a master's degree in Opera Performance from Longy School of Music. She is a graduate of the University of Maine where she earned her bachelor's degree in music education with a concentration in voice. Her teachers have included Nancy Ogle, Donna Roll, Mary Saunders-Barton (musical theatre) and currently Robert Honeysucker (classical) and Kevin Wilson (musical theatre).

Teaching Bio --
Lori has taught in just about every field of music including: general music, theory and composition, band, chorus, guitar, world drumming, piano and dramatic arts for grades K-12. She has also taught several music and movement classes as well as early exposure to music classes with pre-school - kindergarten students. In 2007 she was chosen to teach the children’s vocal portion of The Key West Symphony Orchestra’s summer children’s program: Sol-Fest.

Music has always been a large part of my life. I began piano lessons at age 5 and sang with my church and school choirs growing up. I always enjoyed participating in school musicals, band concerts, and theatre. I began private voice study at age 16, and started my own student-run musical theatre company the same year. I strive to motivate my students to be unique musicians with the confidence to pursue their artistic passions!

i've been studying voice and theatre since I was about 14 years ago. Broadway has always been my first love and when I was young I wanted to be a Broadway star. As I grew up and my voice started to mature I found a love for Opera but it doesn't really matter what I'm doing as long as I'm singing and performing! Because of my lengthy experience in Musical Theatre, Opera, Jazz and the Classical Voice I find these experiences to help my students grow in several different areas.

I love to sing, and I love to teach. Private lessons are a great place for both. Whether you're already passionate about music, or just dipping your feet in the water, I can personalize lessons to meet your needs. For me, seeing a student grow as a musician is a reward in itself. But the biggest rewards should be yours: a stronger voice, a deeper understanding of music, a whole body involved in making music, an enjoyable effort, and a growing independence to know how to handle musical and technical difficulties on your own.

I am an experienced tenor vocalist, with over 10 years of private vocal study, a BA in music from Williams College, and further study in vocal pedagogy with a Longy professor. If you are a seasoned performer, I will guide you in developing agility, musicality, range, dynamics, and phrase shape. If you are a first-time vocal student, I will provide an engaging, supportive environment to find your voice.

My instruction is based on professionalism, experience and range from more than 25 years of singing and 10 years of teaching. I have advanced education in vocal performance and am an AmSAT certified teacher of the Alexander Technique, which allow me to integrate the intellectual and physical aspects of singing. I use my energy, attentiveness and creativity to tailor lessons towards each student's unique needs.
I base my vocal technique on the Italianate tradition of operatic "bel canto," but also incorporate broad experience in musical theater, jazz, and early to contemporary classical music.
