For over 10 years Jan has helped bass students attain proficiency on the instrument by developing their sense of time, their knowledge of scales and chords so that they can effectively write a bass line in a band situation, and their general musicianship and music theory. A good mixture between learning songs and specific exercises geared to the student's needs, combined with frequent writing and recording opportunities, will fuel your inspiration to want to practice and progress on the bass guitar.
Learning an instrument in a music recording studio environment has many advantages and is a lot more fun, creative and rewarding. From your teacher jumping on different instruments
for you to develop your independence and timing as a player and
recording prepared projects you've been working on,
to playing at a higher volume to get to know your gear's real sound, the rocking' memories you'll walk away with will fuel your inspiration to practice and improve fast.
My focus is to help you achieve your goals on your instrument.
With each individual student, I offer exercises, songs and techniques to practice that will help you to immediately begin seeing positive results. I believe that anyone can play an instrument and take their next step in music. It makes a ...

Electric bass is a great introduction to bass instruments and to the world of music in general. Playing just one note at a time allows younger children to experience the fun of playing music without being overwhelmed by chordal instruments like piano and guitar, where more coordination is required at first.
Thank you for taking the time to look at my profile!
I love to share my knowledge of music with other people. At UCLA I taught and performed for children of all ages in Los Angeles and around the world.
Teaching is important to me because I feel that music is all about connecting with others. It is also about so many other things: self expression, communication, and lifelong learning. Also, it's just plain fun. I want my students to enjoy learning as much as they do playing!
In our lessons we'll focus on learning how to play the music that you want to learn! And along the way we'll work on fundamentals that will allow you to branch out into other genres, too.
Music is my favorite thing in the world, and I want it to be yours too! It can change your life!

Slap-a-da-bass man? Pic? 5 string?
I have played guitar since 1992, when I started taking lessons in high school. I have studied guitar and guitar theory for 4 years at college and have nationally toured as a guitarist. Guitar is my best instrument and I have taught countless students all types of guitar music.
I've been playing music for over 20 years. I've been teaching for over 10 years. My main instrument is guitar but I also play and teach piano, drums, uke and bass. I play with two acts in the area: Nataly Lola (acoustic covers) and We Were Superheroes (original rock). I am constantly listening to new alternative music (98.7 and AltNation) as well as learning the classics for the cover band. I never have a bias for a song and am always surprised when the pop song on the radio is actually quite clever when broken down to its roots. As a teacher I cater to the student. I've taught Old Country, Jazz Theory, New Metal, Russian Ska (yup!) and anything else that you want to learn.
"Steven is very professional and extremely helpful. He always has a smile on and is serious about helping you phrase the music. I would highly recommend him to anyone."
"It's been really exciting so far! Jordan has been so helpful, so knowledgeable. I could not have found a better instructor and I'm getting better and better every day."
"My daughter's wedding was weeks away and I had never been able to dance a step. With Jenny's help, I came further than ever before in such short time in any subject."
