On piano, I have lots of experience on both sides of the classical and jazz spectrums. I have traveled the world on luxury cruise ships playing in jazz clubs, huge theaters, and large atriums. I have competition experience on classical piano, placing as high as 2nd in National and Local competitions. In 2008, I was the featured solo pianist performing Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No.3 with full orchestra in Boston, Massachusetts-(its on youtube!!). I also hold the piano chair with local jazz big bands in the area, which perform regularly.

Hello! Music has consumed me from a very young age, and has been a defining force every since. I started singing in Kindergarten, and began playing the viola, cello, and saxaphone in middle school. During high school, while performing in every vocal and band solo and ensemble I could, it became very clear that I wanted to pursue music in college. I attended Hastings College, a private liberal arts college in the heart of Nebraska, where I received my Bachelor's of Music in Vocal Performance. During college, and since, I have had a private music studio teaching students piano, voice, and a little guitar from ages 5 to 87, so I have seen a great deal of talent over the years. I enjoy all ages and genders, but having been a male in music I am aware of the stigma young males have regarding music. Being a veteran and a musician has allowed me to incorporate characteristics from both in my approach to teaching, and in showing its very cool to be a male in music!

I started playing guitar in the 5th grade and in middle school began playing in rock groups. At the beginning of high school, I started teaching in some of the local music stores in the area. While wanting more from my playing, I started classical guitar lessons with an Andre Segovia student, Rani Cochran, and soon started lessons from Warren Nunes, a top jazz guitarist in the Bay Area. Hello everyone! My name is Vinnie, and I am a San Francisco Bay-Area native, and have been an active member in the local music scene for the past decade. A recent graduate from San Jose State University, I earned both a MA & BM in Jazz Studies Performance (also holds AA form Cabrillo College in music), and studied with one of the most in-demand SF Bay-Area drummers, Jason Lewis. With a passion and dedication for teaching, I can help you develop the fundamentals necessary to play the drums in a variety of styles ranging from: jazz, rock, funk, Latin, and orchestral.

My music education began at age 8 when, after a year of pestering my parents, I got my first guitar. My self-taught forays began casually at first, until I was introduced to the likes of Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton (the Cream years) and then later, Frank Marino, John McLaughlin, Al Di Meola, and Allan Holdsworth. By age 15, it was "all about the guitar: eat-sleep-school-guitar," with many countless hours burning the midnight oil, deciphering the solos of my heroes. I moved to the San Francisco Bay Area after high school and began studying guitar under the mentor-ship of virtuoso Marc Bonilla (who has worked with such luminaries as Ronnie Montrose, Derek Sherinian, Keith Emerson of Emerson, Lake and Palmer, and Glenn Hughes of Deep Purple). Bonilla has since moved to L.A. to pursue an impressive career as a film and T.V. composer, while I stayed on in the Bay Area as full time working guitarist/studio musician/composer/teacher.

Music has always been one of my interests. Little did I know that I would pursue a career as a piano instructor. I started to teach approximately 5 years ago. At the time, it started off as a hobby. Playing the piano was always something that I loved, but teaching piano was not part of my career plan. Teaching, however, was a whole new experience for me and it changed my plans completely. I love to work with children; I find my conversations with them interesting and refreshing. I take pride in my ability to communicate with my students. I find teaching very rewarding and I am hoping to do it for many years to come.

My initial degree is in Experimental Psychology. It was at the tail end of this degree that I decided I also wanted to pursue my passion for piano and music. I am currently pursuing a B.M. in Piano Performance at CSU, Stanislaus and am loving every minute of it!
