I am passionate about tutoring students and helping students get into their dream schools. Hello everyone! My name is Vinnie, and I am a San Francisco Bay-Area native, and have been an active member in the local music scene for the past decade. A recent graduate from San Jose State University, I earned both a MA & BM in Jazz Studies Performance (also holds AA form Cabrillo College in music), and studied with one of the most in-demand SF Bay-Area drummers, Jason Lewis. With a passion and dedication for teaching, I can help you develop the fundamentals necessary to play the drums in a variety of styles ranging from: jazz, rock, funk, Latin, and orchestral.

I have been playing and studying guitar for 15 years. I have played in in jazz bands starting in middle school and then in high school and presently at Diablo valley College where I am a Music Major. I am also taking classes with world renown Jazz Guitarist Mimi Fox at the Jazz school in Berkeley, California.
I was inspired at an early age due to my first guitar teacher and mentor, Greg Kennedy. He made lessons fun and educational. I want to provide my students with the right combination of those same principles.
I learned that in addition to musical technique there is also a world of exploration and creativity.
I have also studied with other teachers including Didier Bouvet who I also consider a mentor. He is also a fellow teacher on "Take Lessons".

I graduated from the Musicians Institute in '07,and currently perform in the popular band Tainted Love. My main objective is to give all my students the direction they need to become the best musician they can be. I know every student is different and learns at a different rate. At age I 12 picked up a guitar and fell in love with the instrument. I began with an obsession with Metallica and related bands, which really inspired me to play along and learn that genre of music. That later evolved to a big interest in classical and jazz music as well as an interest in music theory. I believe the pitfall of a lot of musicians learning music theory “limits” you as a musician, which couldn’t be further from the truth. Whether you want to write, play in a band or just noodle around there’s a spot for you!

I have studied under Mark Simons of the San Francisco Guitar quartet from 2008 -2010 and completed the music program at Diablo Valley College in June of 2010, which includes extensive coursework in Music theory, Piano and Guitar. Since 2011 I have been a Jazz Guitar Performance Major at Cal State East Bay where I will complete and receive a BA in music. My music education began at age 8 when, after a year of pestering my parents, I got my first guitar. My self-taught forays began casually at first, until I was introduced to the likes of Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton (the Cream years) and then later, Frank Marino, John McLaughlin, Al Di Meola, and Allan Holdsworth. By age 15, it was "all about the guitar: eat-sleep-school-guitar," with many countless hours burning the midnight oil, deciphering the solos of my heroes. I moved to the San Francisco Bay Area after high school and began studying guitar under the mentor-ship of virtuoso Marc Bonilla (who has worked with such luminaries as Ronnie Montrose, Derek Sherinian, Keith Emerson of Emerson, Lake and Palmer, and Glenn Hughes of Deep Purple). Bonilla has since moved to L.A. to pursue an impressive career as a film and T.V. composer, while I stayed on in the Bay Area as full time working guitarist/studio musician/composer/teacher.

I graduated from California State University East Bay in 2011 with a degree in Business Administration with options in Advertisement and Corporate Management. I have had previous experience working as a mentor for kids, tutoring in a high school math class, and as well as one-on-one tutoring at a private learning center.


I've had some difficulty with math when I was younger, so I can relate to the frustrations that a student can go through. I want to help those students who struggle and let them find comfort in a tutor who makes math easier to understand.

I have played on tour with several professional bands, playing rock, pop, blues, African, metal & country. I now perform live in various bands and record original music as often as possible. My music has gotten airplay in many countries.

I started playing guitar at age 9, and recorded 2 singles in the LA area by age 14. I was a music major throughout High School and College. I also learned a lot by educating myself at the Brand Library in the Los Angeles Area, which specializes in the arts. I specialized in advanced music theory and improvisational techniques.

I have enjoyed teaching music lessons since 1978.

I have been playing guitar for 8 years. I started at age 11 learning songs from bands like Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbatha and Slayer. As I progressed a musician I began to learn the ins and outs of Bass, Piano, Recording arts and Music Theory. I am Antioch High School Jazz band Alumni and I played for them for two years. I have my band Hemotoxin who have released their debut album "Between Forever... and the End" show casing my skills as a guitar player and bringing his talents to a professional level.
