My name is Mike and I operate out of the Dayton, OH area. I have 11 years experience teaching music in public schools and would love to have you study with me. I am a percussionist by nature, and that's where my expertise lies, but I am able to help out beginning to intermediate guitarists and pianists. I believe strongly in crafting well-rounded students and would love to have the opportunity to work with you.
*** Lesson Details ***
I'm pretty laid back but I expect dedication to the craft. Outside practice is essential, but it doesn't have to be overwhelming. Music is to be enjoyed and so should the learning process. In the end, I'm all about helping the student reach his or her personal goals and will structure the lessons to guarantee success with that.
*** Studio Equipment ***
The in-studio lessons are in the basement studio which includes 2 drum sets, hand percussion instruments, audio workstation with pro-tools, and a vocal booth for voice lessons. There is an upright piano in upstairs living room as well as several guitars. Some seating available. 1 cat in the home which could be in a separate room and is never in the basement area. Parking in the driveway or street.
*** Travel Equipment ***
I will provide any supplemental materials, music excerpts, digital recordings, whatever is needed to enhance a lesson. I expect the student to provide all their own instruments, primary resources and accessories.

Renee has a Bachelor degree from the University of Dayton in Music Therapy with an emphasis on piano, voice and music theory. She has been teaching children from age five to adult for over 12 years. In 1995 I taught children from Kindergarten to 4th grade Music at Liberty Christain Cathedral. In 2000 she worked at The Dayton Academy teaching music classes to elementary school children. In 2006 she taught voice to a school choir at Nehemiah University. In 2007 she successfully taught voice and performance to a Senior Choir at Wesley Community Center. The Senior Choir had many Choir performances. Also in 2007,she taught voice lessons and keyboard lessons to a youth choir at Maranatha Worship Center for seven years. she conducted a Black History choir and several Christmas Plays. She has successfully taught students in the past who have become music teachers and music directors in a church or school setting. She has taught students from various backgrounds. Music is my passion because it is international communication. It ministers to my soul and spirit.

Your first lesson with me will be fun and exciting. You will learn how to play a fun simple song and scales and rhythm. I measure your success by how well you practice using the techniques I give you, I also measure progress according to how many times a week you practice, I am committed to inspire people of all ages and skill levels to learn more about music. I believe that music for every individual should be a pleasurable learning experience. Whether you are a beginner or advanced musiciane or vocalist. I welcome all students of all ages encouraging them. I like to motivate all students to succeed. After 3 to 6 months with you, you will have learned how to play simple songs, 12 scales and read the lines and spaces of Treble and Bass Clef and play 3 rhythm patterns

With a degree in Electro-Mechanical engineering I am experience in electronics and mechanical design. I have tutored skills such as circuitry, schematic design, soldering, robotics, arduinos, basic programming, etc. I have studied motion pictures and have experience in directing, cinematography, photography, editing, and producing several works of film. I am a self taught special effects makeup artist. I have been the lead makeup artist for a short film in Dayton, worked at 2 Zombie Walks, and also helped out at Ohayocon. I write short stories, poetry and also perform spoken word. I have had several of my works on several websites. I also do graffiti and specialize in wild style. I am an improv actor with several years of experience. I have had 3 improv shows at Wright State University and 1 theatre show at OSU. I have taken several improv classes as well as commercial acting classes. I do martial arts ranging from Kali to Boxing. I am also very spiritual and am adept at energy work and balance as well as meditation and healing. I also am an avid hiker and camper. I worked at a residential summer camp and am currently planning a backpacking trip along the Appalachian Trail.
