Hi everyone! My name is Ali and I am a recent graduate of UC Davis where I earned my Bachelor's of Arts & Science in Biological Anthropology and History. My two very different majors provided me a thorough background in the hard sciences and social sciences, and I am extremely happy to help students master the variety of subjects that fall into that broad range.


I have been tutoring for over five years now, both in group and one-on-one settings. At the elementary level, I have tutored math (up to and including pre-algebra), science, and language arts. I have been playing the piano for 16 years and singing since I was a child. When I took lessons for piano and voice, I realized how important hard work is to achieving your goals. Practice is crucial to improving your skills.

I attended South Dakota State University and majored in Music Education with a focus in voice. Notable performances during my education include: marching in the 2008 Rose Bowl Parade with the Pride of the Dakotas and performing with the SDSU concert choir in Germany and Austria. I have teaching certification in K-12 vocal music with an endorsement in instrumental music. This past year I taught K-12 vocal music in the Bon Homme School District in rural South Dakota. Teaching this last year gave me great experience working with students of all ages. I learned the importance of creative teaching to reach all types of students.

Sharing my love of music with others is a wonderful feeling and I can't wait to start giving lessons.

My name is Sean W. and I've been a multi instrumentalist for 23 years! I've performed opera as a soprano, Rock, funk, punk, metal, and Jazz on guitar, bass, and drum-kit. I find being able to accompany my students on other instruments to be an indispensable tool.

I my elementary years I attended a music school. There I performed "classical styles" as a solo soprano and classical pianist. My experience included performing opera with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and smaller "gigs", like weddings and seasonal concerts. I still to this day value my classical training.

Currently, I attend University of California at Davis for Pharmaceutical Chemistry. Studying can be excruciating for some people-- we have all been there. It's okay to stumble some times. Many students have instructors, who may be brilliant in their field, but lack the interpersonal capacity to teach well. I empower my students to overcome academic hurdles by teaching them the art of approaching a problem. Whether it involves mathematical equations, English grammar, or life and physical sciences, there always exists an attainable solution.

Born and raised in Los Angeles, I was lucky to have at my disposal some of the best bass players in the world to study with. Some of my first teachers were Herb Mickman, the late great Monty Budwig, and Max Bennet who single handedly taught me how to read music! After high school I continued my education at the Dick Grove Music Workshop and the Musicians Institute in Hollywood. During this time I continued to study privately with the likes of Bunny Brunell and Andy West. For most of the next twenty years I played in and around L.A. in well rehearsed progressive rock projects to just good ol' rock and blues bands. It wasn't until later in my life that I fell in love with classical music. Since then I've played in Orchestras in and around Sacramento as well as many chamber music and jazz gigs. This breadth of experience allows me to be flexible with the individual needs of each student and to compose a lesson plan that will benefit each students unique goals.
